Was up at 06:00AM at the campground, the boys were out like a light after all day in the water and the hot temperatures of the last couple days, supposed to be in the 90’s again today and no breeze, So we will be heading to the pool and the beach about Noon again.
After not being able to post a blog for two days and the fact that I had the green bars that said connected at two wi-fi hotspots but no mail or internet I was pretty well convinced that whatever it was was in my laptop. I had used it to post at home where I set it in a docking station. I hadn’t changed anything but no luck at two different locations. I racked my brain and decided to check anything related to networking.
So I went to My Network Places, clicked on view my network connections. Right clicked on wireless network connections. Then clicked on properties, got a box that had four things in it and the bottom one said Internet Protocol TCP/IP. I highlighted this and and clicked properties. I then got another box that had Obtain an IP address automatically, or use the following IP address, where a manual entered IP was listed. Since I never had entered a manual number I clicked on the Automatic box. There was also a box that said obtain a DNS server and gave you the choice of clicking on a manual setting, I clicked Automatic here also. Then rebooted . I had to go back to the office but as soon as I booted up I could see it acquire a new IP address and I was in business. I had internet, could receive mail, and was able to post out of Live Writer. Don’t know how the settings got changed but I’m glad to be back in business.
I was about ready to see if the Royal Canadian Air Force would drop Rick into the campground by parachute. You know , desperate times sometimes need desperate measures.
Not much going on now, the kid’s are relaxing before we head out to the beach. Be safe out there, Sam & Donna…..
Just catching up on your last few days. Nice to see that you are having such great weather. I won't even dream of putting my foot in the water here, only the polar bears to that. One day it will warm up.
ReplyDeleteBoy, is Adam ever growing up fast. Glad that the boys are having fun and spending lots of fun outside, much better than sitting inside and playing with the video games.

Me, jump out of an airplane? No way! I'd have to be pushed!
ReplyDeleteGood job on fixing up your wifi connection problem. When you right-click on the little green bar thing, you should see something that says 'Repair Wireless Connection'. It should do automatically what you did manually.
Good fix though - always a good idea to pick 'automatic' in those cases.
Glad you are back up and running! Great job of trouble shooting!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys are enjoying some fun at the pool on these hot days!
You guys enjoy and take care!!
desperate times call for desperate measures!..glad you got the problem fixed with a 'parchute landing'!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what you're talking about, but glad you got things squared away! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that all figured out. On mine you just click diagnostics and a box comes up and tells you what is wrong. I love it. Makes it easy on we that are computer challenged. Stay cool..
