Thursday Happenings.

It’s a mild cloudy day today in Dardenne Prairie, cloudy and it should reach 50 degrees, not much doing here, the pooches are asleep,

Rigg’s is snoring next to my chair

Charlie is out on Rigg’s bed.

Sadie03-19-15b

Little Sadie is asleep in her bed behind my chair.

I guess that means I have the watch for homeland security.

As most of you know I was a rotor head during my Naval service here are a couple of shots from those days.

Picking  up a sailor from a Destroyer that lacks a helo deck. Gun mount trained

to the side and a guaranteed bumpy ride from the wind coming through the ships

Masts and stacks.

Landing on an oiler after hopping over the Destroyer that is being refueled underway,

Picture was taken from a carrier which was also refueling.

We did these kind of operations hundreds of times during a normal deployment. After we landed we would also refuel so you had the oiler refueling two ships and a helicopter while underway. We would usually wait until the carrier broke away and launch from the oiler, normally for us to land they would have someone who needed to be picked up and transferred to another ship.

Here’s one  really like.

  1. I could get seasick looking at those photos. I don't like being on the water at all, so that's why. The family pictures are really nice.

  2. Great flashback! I used to be dropped off on oil drill ships in the north sea from helo's. I was sure every time was going to be the last:)

Yup, we are back on the road. Much poorer, but back on the road! Just crossed into Tx and on to OK. we blew our vacation budget to smithereens, but had a lot of fun! Time to go back to work. Sigh.
