Thursday Happenings.

Woke up to 9 inches of snow and still falling at 04:30AM, Donna left at 05:00AM for the truck company, I waited until 09:00AM and then John Deere and I went out to do battle with the snow, I spent about an hour and a half and then I put John in the garage and now I'll wait until this afternoon and just have to touch up whatever we get before it stops completely.

Rigg's is loving it. Here he is running in the snow.

John Deere doesn't mind piling the snow up.

The snow that is falling now is real fine and dry so even if we get a couple more inches it will plow fast now that I knocked the first 9 off. John is good for about a foot of snow, then I have to go to a bigger plow, so If I get out there and start while it is still snowing sometimes I can stay ahead of it.

Came in to let my hands and feet thaw out and made a bowl of Chicken Noodle soup, boy, was that good.

Donna sent an e-mail, she is the only one that made it into the office today. I don't think the restaurant will be busy unless they get all the streets plowed by 05:00PM, even then I don't think many people will go put to eat so she may have a short night tonight.

The temperature is 19 right now but is supposed to fall to 6 degree's tonight, who knows what the wind chill will be tomorrow morning when it's time for work again. Luckily she can park her SUV in my stall and my sons race car (camaro) is in her stall, so you see where that leaves my truck, out in the deep freeze, I don't plan on going anywhere but I will have to plug it in before I do.

Other than letting the dogs out once in awhile , not much going on in Dardenne Prairie, time comes to a stop during storms like this, so I will say see Ya until tomorrow. Be Safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  1. Not snowing here in NW Pennsylvania, YET, but we're supposed to get blasted, starting later this afternoon. And, yep, we've got the bone-chilling temps here, too. My DH and I are leaving on our full time adventure Jan 31st, headed to Sebring, FL, when we're (both) finally retired from LE.
    Good luck to you!

  2. That is a lot of snow for you Southern Folks! :)
No new snow here in Minnesota for almost 24 hours, but lows tonight of -20 with wind chills of -35. Glad to hear that Mr. Deere is up to the task at hand!

  3. Too much snow for us! Good thing you have a good strong, reliable John Deere to help you out.

Nothing like a good hot bowl of soup after being out in the cold. Nice comfort food.

  9. Aren't you glad you don't have to get out and patrol the roads in that weather? Boy you and I both remember what that was like for sure!!
My Dad told me that snow isn't bad as long as you don't have to get out and work in it....Bless his heart.....Stay warm out there my friend!!

  10. Bought a brand spanking new snow blower in 05 & little did we know that was our last winter in Canada for awhile. Sold the blower in 06 & I don't miss all that snow one little bit!! And, I never did care much for that snow blower throwing me all around the driveway anyway....

  12. Wow that's a lot of snow! It sure looks pretty but I am so glad we are only dealing with rain right now. Ron is hoping for some semi dry days either Saturday or Sunday so we can switch the hard top of the Jeep out for the soft top.

Hope Donna didn't have to work too late tonight.
