Thursday Thoughts.

First of all I want to thank all my fellow bloggers for yesterdays Birthday wishes for my Grandson Adam I called him and read them to him over the phone, he was very excited since he doesn't get to read the blog because his Mom's Internet is down. Well with all good intentions I had made plans to go to the Lake and camp this weekend , those plans were altered last night when Adam's Mom called me and she was upset that she hasn't received her support from my Son, I told her he hasn't had a paycheck in over a year and was trying to get work, that and the fact his car is broken down makes it difficult to find it and he had been doing a side job here and there if a friend would take him. Andy had called her and told her he was going to go with us camping, well I guess that was a mistake because she decided, no money, no visits, you don't get to see your son. Kind of like using the poor kid as a bargaining chip. Without getting into family matters any further. I decided I wasn't going  to be involved in the middle of two adults feud and I told her forget it I will cancel the camping trip, you explain it to Adam however you can. I'm sure there are other families out there in blogger land that can understand what this is like or maybe even been through the same thing. I for one would never use a Childs feeling as a bargaining tool. Donna & I wish there was something we could do to get Andy on his feet and employed so he could send support. But as a parent you can only do  so much. We have given him food and shelter, but cannot afford to pay all his bills.

So now the trailer sits and I have to deal with how I am going to see my Grandson with the Mom all bent out of shape at my son.

Life goes on. Nobody guaranteed it would be easy.

Sorry for the rant but so many of you wished me a good weekend of camping at the Lake in your comments that i felt it was only fair to let you know that it won't happen this week and I appreciate the support.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  1. That's a tough one Sam & not something I have ever experienced as an adult but have experienced that very thing from the other end as a child. Not a good thing I can assure you. Like you said, "Life goes on. Nobody guaranteed it would be easy.

  2. Sorry to hear about your grandson and the fued between your son and exwife it's not fair to the child to be put in the middle of it,that's what courts or for. The child should not have to pay for it.

Hope things work out for you and him good luck.

  3. Putting the grandson in the middle is dirty, but you did the right thing by cancelling the whole plan. Its not your fight, so why fight it! But Adam shouldn't have to pay for it on his birthday, so maybe you can make it up to him later. Hang in there! Rod

  4. Making a child a pawn in the dealings of the parents is sooo not fair. You are wise to stay out of it, though. After she cools down, I'm sure Adam will be back in your lives....She seems to be trying to throw her weight around, using Adam to hurt Andy and you two...but sadly, all she is doing is showing immaturity...I'm sending good karma your way!!!

  5. We can only pray that Adam's mother will have a change of heart. One would wonder how a mother who must certainly love her child would make him pay the penalty for something that is out of his control. We see it happen far too often.

Try to keep the lines of communication open. God bless.

  6. That sucks Sam. Very sorry to hear that his mom doesn't have the sense to keep him out of her squabbles with his father. Keep your chin up and know that he loves and misses you.

  7. It's sad to see Adam's weekend, and yours too, spoiled by a parent who doesn't seem to understand that kids aren't pawns to be used as leverage. Unfortunately, this happens all too often.
