Memorial Day

Todays is the day set aside in the USA to honor all our Service Men & Women who gave their lives to insure we can enjoy the freedoms we have in this great country of ours. There is a misconception that all Veterans should be honored on this day.Not so, This day is reserved for those that were killed in the line of duty.Veterans Day honors the rest of us living veterans.

A little progress report on my bride Donna,When she was discharged from the hospital, they helped get her in the car, but when I got home I had no way to get her in the house. I called the Paramedics and they sent a crew over and carried her in the house. She sat in the kitchen chair with her leg elevated,we tried all over to locate a wheel chair on a holiday weekend with no result, we still lookin but have pretty well resigned ourselves to having to wait till Tuesday after the holiday.

I feel so helpless because I can no longer lift her myself, luckily my Son Andrew carried her into bed. She cannot move her leg in anyway without extreme pain. I am now her caregiver, yes, that includes the bedpan for bathroom breaks as she cannot leave her bed.

Thank goodness for little Kelly our new housekeeper, she has stepped up to the plate and helped us immensely, what a girl Friday.

I’m hoping once she go’s to the orthopedic surgeon he can fix it up where she will be able to get out of bed. Oh well one day at a step, every journey starts with a single step.

That’s about it for now, be safe out there. Sam &Donna…….

More Bad Luck at the Weeb Ranch

At high noon bad luck struck again at the Weeb Ranch. I had decided to get a nap, Next thing I knew I had all the dogs barking, when I went into the kitchen I found Donna lying on the floor and she said she had got up and had a weak spell and fell, and that she thought she had broken her leg, just by looking at it with it pointing at at a right angle to her body it looked broken. We called 911 and the paramedics responded, they to said yep its broke. They took her back to St Joseph’s East Hospital in Lake St Louis.
She spent all afternoon there and the doctors confirmed her leg was broken in two places, after painfully having it set, she was allowed home about 5pm with instructions to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic specialist this week. Here is her picture with the paramedics.
Looks like she will be out of action most of the summer between healing and rehab.
Be safe out there. Sam and Donna.

Nice Day At The Weeb Ranch

After several rainy days today we are having some sunshine, at 10am it is already over 70 degrees. The windows and doors are open to air out the house.

With Donna’s failing health and my constant foot pain we found we could not keep up with the daily cleaning routine to keep the inside of the house clean as we would like it. Finally Donna said she would have a part time maid hired. One of my Sons friends Kelly said she would do it and is doing a great job.

Here is a picture of Rigg’s sitting by his Daddy just happy as a lark.

Charlie is in trouble, he was so happy to see Donna he ran full speed and jumped up on her lap causing scratch's on her arms. Donna bruises very easily so this was the result,

Charlie is now trying to let her know he is sorry.

Not much else going on here at the Ranch we are hoping for nice weather and Maybe a weekend getaway when Donna is feeling better.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

Donna’s Home.

On Wednesday evening Donna was discharged from the Hospital, and came home. We both can’t say enough about St Joseph’s Hospital in Lake St Louis. They are super care givers, and Donna said they had great food.

Yesterday was our 37th wedding anniversary, so last night we went to the Pasta House Rest. in O’Fallon Mo.We have enjoyed the Pasta House since we were dating.

                                     To Our Health.

Pets are so funny, Rigg’s usually sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed at night, and Charlie sleeps on the bed near my feet. The nights Donna was in the hospital Rigg’s got up on Donna side net to me and slept there. I can only guess that he sensed my worry and wanted to comfort me. When Donna got home they both went crazy and tried to get on her lap all at the same time for kisses, imagine three of them all charged up and happy to see MOM & Grandma.

We have had plenty of on and off rain the last few days including when I woke up this morning. The grass in back is going to hay it’s got to be cut first hot sunny day.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and wishes for Donna’s quick recovery, I know she feels good to have all our friends,

That’s about it for now, please be safe, Sam & Donna…….

Good News and Bad News from the Weeb Ranch

First the bad news, this morning Donna was taken by ambulance to St Joseph’s Hospital she was having great difficulty breathing and we decided this was best. since she couldn’t walk, the ambulance was necessary. Once we got there they started doing tests including a CAT Scan, put her on IV’s and gave her several injections.

The good news is after a few hours she started to look better and said she felt a little better. the hospital said they didn’t have a room available until tomorrow so she will have to stay in a room in the ER until one is available. The Doctor said they will keep her several days until she improves to where he feels she can go home. I will let you know of any changes as I find out.

Here are some more pictures of Tim & Bonnie’s wedding Saturday, boy do I have some pretty girls out in New Jersey.

On to the news around here at the Weeb Ranch, Donna is essentially bedridden, she says she has no strength and trouble breathing, she said if we don’t see any improvement this week she will be going into the hospital again. Prayers are needed.
