Sunday Notes.

Was up at 06:00AM and had coffee, My bride got up a little later for hers. Then at 09:45AM she was off to the Restaurant for the day shift.

Adam’s Football team the Warrenton Warriors had another game this afternoon and were victorious for the second week in a row,They are sure improving fast.

It was another nice day with temps in the mid 70’s and a little bit of clouds , but all in all another nice Indian Summer afternoon.

After the game since he doesn’t have school tomorrow Adam asked if he could come and spend the night. This was of course a pleasant surprise for Grandpa. maybe if it nice to morrow I will take him somewhere, like the train museum for some guys time together. Or maybe just go down along the Union Pacific and watch and shoot some trains with the video & camera.

Just waiting for Donna to come home from work and I am making some spaghetti for the rest of us Adam is hungry since he played hard at the game and is coming in and out of the kitchen checking the progress of the meal.

That’s about it for today from the Weeb Ranch, we hope all is well with our blogger friends who are traveling or just sitting in between trips like we are. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Saturday Mumblings.

Was up early for coffee, Donna slept in until about 06:00AM and then got up for hers. Turned out to be a gorgeous Indian summer day with the temps in the upper 70’s warm sun and no wind.

The kind of day just to do nothing and relax.

Rigg's&Sadie09-29-12a

Looks like Rigg’s & Sadie have the idea down pat.

Donna wants to leave a little early for the restaurant this afternoon, and do some shopping. I have no idea what she is looking for or what we need. We made a nice big breakfast of bacon & eggs this morning. Donna likes a big breakfast as her major meal on the weekends. so we try to do that for her.

Not much doing we are just relaxing and enjoying the day. I hope everyone out there has a great weekend and week coming up. October already. I have been kicking around going up to Iowa for a few days of train shooting before the warm weather quits completely. Donna doesn’t have any time left so it will be a solo flight in the fiver.

Everyone be safe out there, Sam & Donna..

Thursday Happenings/T.G.I.F.

Was up both mornings to have coffee with my bride and then she was off to the truck company, Thursday was another full day of rain, and clouds, But today about 09:00AM the sun broke through and it is turning into a gorgeous warm day. Rigg’s and Sadie are enjoying going in & Out and running in the yard.

I went out and finished with anything that was left in the fiver, since we don’t have any plans for October I will be going to get some pick fluid and probable in a couple of weeks blow out the water lines and put pink stuff in the the tanks, to keep the valves from freezing.

Got the fridge off and dry and cleaned for next season. I hope we get to go to Florida again this spring. Like we did last year.

Today being Friday,I started the day by taking some frozen pizza dough out of the freezer to that so tonight there will be another Weeb Ranch homemade pizza. I can’t wait since it’s bee a little while since I made one of those big square crust beauties. Hopefully there will be some left for lunch over the weekend. Haven’t heard from Adam yet this week  so I don’t know what his plans are yet, if he has a football game he will stay home for it. By the way they did win their first game last weekend. so his confidence level went up one notch.

If Ali Workentin reads this, send me your blog URL to me e-mail at weeb@centurytel.net I lost you somehow as I haven’t got it on my followers list anymore. It just disappeared. Sometime Blogger has a mind of it’s own as my list seems to go up and down occasionally without my input.

Not much else going on today, I can’t wait to get the kitchen smelling like a pizza shop, Then I will get a couple of High Life Lights out and enjoy the pizza.

Be safe out there.. Sam & Donna…….

Wednesday Musings.

Was up early and had coffee with my bride. Donna left at 05:30AM for the truck company and then the restaurant.

It was another rainy and cloudy cool day here in Dardenne Prairie, didn’t take the truck out of the garage or leave the house. Even Rigg’s and Sadie took advantage of a dreary day and laid around most of the day. Tomorrow is supposed to be more rain and then cloudy Friday with a sunny weekend promised.

Maybe I will fix John Deere Saturday and then wait for the grass to dry to hit it again so it doesn’t look like a hay field. after after last weekends cutting.

I will have to order a set of blades and a new belt after this summers workout, but will wait until the cutting season is over and the deck is off and the plow is mounted for the winter.

Sure hope we don’t get much snow like last year, the year before it seemed like every other day I was out plowing.

Supposedly when you have a real hot summer the chance of a cold and snowy winter is higher for some reason.

Not much else going on around the Ranch, so I will say see Ya later. and be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

Tuesday Thoughts.

Was up at 04:30AM and had coffee with my bride then Rigg’s and I had our nap after she left for the truck company, actually Rigg’s started his before we finished coffee, Donna took the camera in and got a shot.

Rigg's09-25-12c

Rigg’s is snoring up a storm.

Luckily there was room for me next to him. He doesn’t even wake up when I crawl in the bed next to him.

Yesterday he had a visitor. He simply adores Lisa, one of Samantha’s girlfriends, every time she comes over he won’t leave her side and haunts her to play.

Rigg's, Lisa,&Samantha09-24-12a

                      Rigg’s Lisa & Samantha.

Rigg’s is usually a guy dog but he sure has a crush on Lisa.

Not much doing today it was sunny then cloudy, then sunny and now we are having a heavy thunderstorm, no hail by high winds, and heavy rain, Donna just called and said the roads are like bringing a destroyer through heavy seas. Rigg’s is just lying here by my feet not paying any attention to the thunder and lightening.

Continued unloading the last of the things from the fiver to day when it was sunny also made a trip to the Hobby Shop for a couple of train magazines.

Didn’t get a chance to look at John Deere today, maybe tomorrow.  Isn’t retirement great, if you feel like doing something you do it, if not, oh well. I can’t wait for Donna to be retired and get away from the truck company, she went right back to the stress, it is really stressful workplace for her with the boss she has.

That’s about it for today, Hope all is well out there in blogland. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…….

Monday Meanderings.

Was up at 04:30AM with my bride for coffee, then Rigg’s and I grabbed a short nap. Donna had to go back to work today at the truck company, I know she wasn’t looking forward to that. After it started warming up this morning I went down and emptied the fridge and freezer in the fiver and transferred everything to the fridge in the basement.

Then I shut it off, first time since the beginning of May and let it defrost, never realized how much ice they accumulate, I had to take towels and clean and dry the inside and leave the doors wide open to let it air dry overnight.

Then I packed the clean clothes I had in the closets and brought them in. Donna will have to bring her stuff in on the weekend. If I use it again before winter we will just pack a couple f overnight bags for the trip. if not I can blow out all the lines and winterize it and put the winter battery maintainer on it and unplug the converter.

The fiver was used a total of about 9 weeks this summer and so far it has performed flawlessly, however before the next long trip I have to pull the wheels and check and repack the bearings and brakes, and it is due for a set of tires. It will be okay for a  local trip to the Lake or Columbia MO. but before we head to Florida all this will have to be done.

Yesterday John Deere and I spent about 3 hours cutting all the grass and catching up on the yard work. Just as I was finishing the deck belt either jumped off or broke, but since I was done I just drove him into the garage and put him in his stall. I can fix it later in the week inside the warm garage.

So far Sadie & Rigg’s are making up for lost playtime running around this place like a couple of wild men. Sure is nice to see the rugs slide under their feet as they try to stop before the hit the fireplace.

Laundry has to be caught up next, boy being away a week means work when you get home. Well that’s about it for today, Hope everyone out there is enjoying the cooler weather and the beginning of Fall. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

RIGGINS VACATION

As usual the trip had to start with me showing Dad where to sit and what direction he had to go. After  all  dogs have a very keen sense of directionclip_image001clip_image001[1]

clip_image001[2]clip_image001[3]clip_image002

Wasn’t too long of a trip and besides barking at a few motorcycles, I was good, honest.

Guess there isn’t ever going to be a trip that I don’t have to say sorry Mom.  You see it’s like this.  We weren’t at camp too long when there was this very loud horrible knocking on the door.  Mom said be quiet it’s Phyllis and Len, I don’t care if she gave those people names, I wasn’t going to let her be between me and them until I determined they were okay. You see I am a big boy and can sound very intimidating. Well Mom opened the door and I recognized them, they came to see ME! So I just pushed her a little, not my fault she fell backwards and Hit her head on the edge of the cabinet.  What is a goose egg anyway, I didn’t see any geese, and how could it get on your head ?  Anyway sorry Mom, I’ll try to be better.

clip_image003

See I told you they came to see me, you don’t see Len scratching Mom or Dad’s ears like that!

clip_image004

MOM TURN OFF THE LIGHT !

Geez, Mom you kept me up late last night guarding the camper while you were gone and then you get up early and turn on the lights. Haven’t you ever heard the saying “Leave sleeping dogs lie”? Well I was sleeping, oh well I just put the pillow over my head.

We then went and met John, Bridget, and Fred. Fred is small, not as small as my sister Sadie, but he is quiet.  Now why did he have to sit next to my dad?  Well if he is going to do that I’ll just go to his dad. He gives ears scratches almost as good as Len.clip_image005clip_image006

Haha, look at that jealous look on Fred’s face

We met Ken, Angela, Annie and Mad Max the other day and we all went to the doggie park

clip_image007

Mad Max.

clip_image008

                   Annie (Isn’t she beautiful)

clip_image009

Don’t let those short legs fool you, they don’t call him Mad Max for nothing.  I did beat him to the ball and THEN he jumped up and tried to get the ball out of my mouth.  Then he bit me, twice.  So I didn’t start that fight he did.  But I had to knock him over and show him my big boy teeth.  He is scrappy, he didn’t  give up. Ken had to come and separate us.  But all was good after that. We played and played until I had to take a break.

clip_image010clip_image011

Ken scolding both of us…thinking I look sorrier than Mad Max.

clip_image012clip_image013

Later in the day Mom played ball with me.  No Mad Max around to get in my way.

Why are there so many people riding those silly looking bicycles around here. I don’t like them and tell them everytime they go by.  Mom says all that barking is getting on her last nerve. What’s a last nerve? Ouch, Mom, how come you gave me a smack on the butt? Oh that’s what happens to mom’s last nerve.

What fun, we went to the Pet Parade.  Oh all the other dogs, all sizes and smells. Of course as usual more People took pictures of me than any of the other dogs, guess they just couldn’t resist this handsome fella.

What, you think it was my costume? What all that laughing wasn’t because I’m so good looking ?

clip_image014clip_image015clip_image016clip_image017

How come I always have to walk everywhere…get me one of these!

Well, still have a couple days left and I’ll be good, I promise. Now I’m tired, takes a lot out of guy doing all this work.

clip_image018

THE END

P.S.

Today we left for home, yippee. Not that I didn’t enjoy my trip but kinda miss my sister. Now as you all know I hate motorcycles. Our Rally ended and guess what replaced it??? The Hog Rally and not the oinky kind, the HARLEY kind. Almost went hoarse telling all of them Off as they went by! Again, I have to say ‘sorry Mom’, seems in my excitement on seeing all those motorcycles I stepped on her case with her brand new glasses and popped out the screw and bent the frame, just a little.

Now Mom always keeps a bowl and a bottle of water in truck for me, boy was I thirsty after all that motorcycle watching. Now came the problem, I drank all the water and then later I had to go pee really, really bad, kept whining in Mom’s ear and she kept telling me, just wait we will be home soon. I was soo happy to see our driveway, I hopped out and 2 inches into the yard I just had to let go.

Well folks, now I’m home and all is well. Thanks Mom for typing for me my feet are to big to type.

Saturday Mumblings.

We were up early for coffee, then about 09:00Am I started getting everything ready for leaving , dumping and flushing the tanks, antenna down, chairs and table put away, hoses rolled up and stowed. Donna took care of getting the stuff inside made travel ready.

Last night Donna wanted to dine out so we went to Applebee’s. my opinion is the place is very overpriced and the portions are small, I don’t think we will be going to another one.

About 10:00AM we left the fairgrounds and had a leisurely 2 1/2 hour drive home. all went well and we arrived at the ranch at 12:30PM.

Goinghome09-22-12a

                      Leaving the fairgrounds.

Rigg’s was happy to get home and see Sadie. Then he went to his spot on the kitchen floor next to my chair and reclaimed it.

ohboyi'mhome09-22-12a

Oh Boy. Dad I’m Home in my spot again.

All in all the Escapee’s Rally was a great time and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, I know Donna enjoyed meeting the people we met, and had a lot less stressful week and actually had a couple of glasses of wine during the week. I made sure that I got my Minimum Daily Requirement of Miller High Life Light each day. Rigg’s just had a ball and had to be the center of attention wherever we went. He is such an attention hound.

Well now for the unpacking, and I am going to defrost the fridge for the first time all summer, and then just sit around and relax, Tomorrow I have to catch up on the grass cutting. Nothing gets done when you are away. Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

Was up early for coffee with the bride, then Rigg’s and I got a little nap. Since the Rally is over and we are staying an extra day, we decided to do a little sightseeing in downtown Sedalia MO. I had never been here but I knew it had been a big railroad town with shops here for both the Missouri Pacific and the Katy Railroad.  Here are some of the sights we saw.

When we got back after filling the truck with $100 worth of diesel we took Rigg’s for a run over at the doggie park, He was of course thrilled with that and is now on the couch getting his rest. Mom is taking a nap too. For those of you that missed his (costume) for the doggie parade here is a better shot.

Thursday Happenings

Hi, it’s Donna…Sam is taking nap and designated me as the author today…so bear with me.

Yesterday Mary aka Natasha and Paul aka Boris, who travel in Bullwinkle, gave a seminar on The Myths of Full Timing.  Very informative and given in a humorous style that kept your attention.  They are both very good speakers. Paul was a financial planner in his stix and bricks days and gave a very realistic eye opening approach to the cost factors… Well done Mary and Paul

MARY AND PAUL

Last night was Happy Hour at Ken and Angela’s before we went to the Mathewson Center for the nightly gathering.  When we arrived at their place poor Max had been banned from Happy Hour, his full name is Mad Max and he is a very exuberant beagle.  Just ask Riggs, Max is a great dane in a beagles body. Annie always the lady greeted everyone with quiet dignity.  We had to be inside as the winds almost blew petite Angela into the next county and we knew the chips didn’t stand a chance. As usual lots of laughs and good times.  P.s. Max was finally allowed to join us and after getting lots of pets and kisses he settled down, well almost (as long as Ken had him on a lead).

We stuffed ourselves with snacks and off to the nightly drawing.  :-(  Our gang won nothing.  Ken and Angela stayed for the nightly entertainment Ham a Rama, amateur hour with RV’ers as talent.

Since Riggs stayed home and did his impersonation of a guard dog this is what he did after he knew he was off duty.

Today was the Pet Parade. There were tons of dogs there all shapes and size from miniature pomps to greyhounds.

So far we have had a great time at this Rally and look forward to each day. Tomorrow is the doggie parade, so we will get to see how Rigg’s does in that.

I have to say he has been on good behavior even with his occasional wild pup streak.

That’s about it for now we are heading for a seminar on fulltiming. Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

Tuesday Thoughts.

Was up at 04:30AM for coffee with my bride, then Rigg’s and I got our after coffee nap. We lost power last night for about 4 hours, but it was back on when I got up this morning so I had power to make the coffee. I would have waited until 07:00AM and then went out and cranked up our generator so I could charge the batteries and make coffee. The campground pamphlet says no generators except in the boondock area, but if your power is off that sounds like boondocking to me and I would have left it run just long enough to put a charge in the coach batteries so the fridge stayed on.

After lunch today we met Ken & Angela over at the doggie park at Clover Dell Park which is about 10 minutes from the fairgrounds, Except for a brief fight between Rigg’s and Max they got along great from then on. Rigg’s had already met Annie so they were cool with each other.

                      Rigg’s taking a break.

They played ball and chase until all three were ready to drop it was a good workout for the three of them. When we got back Rigg’s crashed on the couch and Sam took Len to the tire dealer to pick up his truck.

Tonight we are going to have Happy Hour at the Traveling Weeb Ranch, remember anybody at the Rally that wants to stop by after 5PM at site Y4 is welcome. that should be fun.

Since today was kind of a doggie day here’s a couple more pics.

The Rally is really going strong and we are all enjoying ourselves. Hope everyone out there  is having a good week. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..
