T.G.I.F.

Was up at 04:30AM and had coffee with my pretty bride. Then she was off to the truck company and then the Restaurant. Rigg’s couldn’t wait and was already waiting for me on the bed for his after Mom leaves nap. He is so spoiled.

It is a beautiful day here in Dardenne Prairie. It is sunny and 66 degrees right now. I took advantage of it as I hadn’t started and run the generator in my truck since the Rally about a month and a half ago, Good thing I checked it as the battery barely cranked it over so I put the charger on it for a half hour, it is a very small battery like something you would find on a small motorbike. I think when it goes out I will just replace it with a lawn tractor battery. Anyway I let it sit and then cranked it over and it caught right away so no damage done by being overdue in running it, I let it run for about 30 minutes and even ran a grinder with it so it had some load on it, I had to cut some pipe anyway. Now I can wait for about Jan 1st to roll around run it again. Aside from the monthly runs we haven’t had to use it since we have had power wherever we went and no power outages. But the reason I bought it was because of a campground outage which caused Donna’s breathing disorder to flare up. I know better to have and not need, than need and not have.

We are supposed to have a nice weekend, before some rain rolls in on Monday.

No kid’s this weekend they both have stuff to do with their Mom and Dad’s.

Looks like a pretty lazy day here at the Ranch, I forgot to take out some dough to thaw so no pizza this week. I have other thing left in the ice box so I won’t go hungry.

Hope everyone has had a good week and is looking forward to a good weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

Wednesday Musings.

Up at 04:30Am for my coffee with my bride, then Rigg’s and I got our nap. Got back up at 08:00AM and about 09:00AM Tammy came into the kitchen, she said she had a late night and trouble falling asleep.

WE had a good morning together and then around noon I took her and Buddy back to her girlfriends house, they are going back down to Lake Ozark MO. But she will be back for another visit soon.

When Donna gets home from work each day the dogs wait for a treat from her. Looks like she has their attention here.

Threeatattention11-27-12c

Rigg’s, Sadie, & Buddy at attention.

My Son Andy’s girlfriend Samantha, made Enchilada's for supper last night. Boy they were great, she made a tray of meat one’s and a tray of cheese ones.

Not much else going on at the ranch, today Donna has the restaurant after the truck company. But there are plenty of tovars in the fridge, Spaghetti & meatballs sounds good.

Everyone have a great week out there. and be safe. Sam & Donna.

Tuesday Thoughts.

Was up at 04:30AM and had coffee with my pretty bride, about 05:00AM my niece Tammy stumbled into the kitchen for a coffee. After Donna left for work Rigg’s and I went back for our usual nap, I think Tammy & Buddy went in for one too.

Later in the morning we went to Wal-Mart for a couple things, and on the way out I had to take the dumper down, tomorrow is trash day, I decide this week to do it early while it was daylight after my run-in with the deer last week.

Samantha is making a batch of her world famous Homemade Enchilada's for supper tonight. Boy the Weibels are eating good this week.

I ordered Rigg’s a safety vest from e-bay, they said they had XXL that would fit a hundred lb. Lab, I hope so.

Sadie has a winter vest for when the snow flies, I ordered safety orange for Rigg’s for when we are walking him in camp grounds and near roads.

Other than that it is another slow news day here at the Ranch. We hope everyone is getting settled in their snowbird nests for the winter, I am hoping we don’t have much snow this year here in Dardenne Prairie. I would take a year like last year.

Everyone be safe out there.  Sam & Donna….

Monday Meanderings

Was up at 04:30 with my pretty bride for coffee, then she was off to the truck company, and Rigg’s and I had a nap. Adam got up we had some breakfast together. Leftover cold pizza, I love it for breakfast. About 11:00AM I went to Shop & Save and got to some meat and stuff to make some of my Grandma Genett meatballs from scratch. My niece Tammy is coming over for a few days and she wanted some.
Tammy called and said she was running late and to pick her up at 03:00PM so I made and fried the meatball and put them out on the sun porch to cool about 2:45PM I got the sauce started and put the meat balls in to simmer, until 05:30PM. Then I went to get Tammy.
While I was picking her up Adam’s Mom got off work early and cane and picked him up so he was gone home when we got back.

Donna,Rigg's,&Buddy11-27-12a
Donna has Rigg’s & Buddy’s rapt attention as she dishes out the plates.
A great dinner was enjoyed and then we had a couple after dinner cocktails and good conversation. Tammy lives in Saucier Ms. about 5 miles from Gulfport, and she says she has room for a fiver at her place, so we may plan for a winter visit once Donna retires this spring.
The temp her in Dardenne Prairie this morning is 27, Saucier is 60, so I could live with that in the winter.
That’s about it for today, everyone be safe out there in Blog Land. Sam & Donna………………….

Sunday Notes.

Up at 06:00AM for my morning coffee, I think the smell of the coffee woke my bride as she came in the kitchen a little while later for her first cup, after coffee we just laid around and tried for a nap.

What an awesome morning, Adam got up around 09:00AM, he stays up late playing his game with his buddies, so he sleeps in n the morning. First thing he said was, “Grandpa I called my Mom and since I am off school tomorrow I told her I wanted to stay another night at Grandpa, that;s okay with you isn’t it.” I told him he is always welcome to stay with us as long as his Mom doesn’t mind, but don’t forget you have been here since Thursday so your Mom may be missing you. He said I know but I have school the next day so I will have to go home tomorrow. So it was me and Adam today since Nicky’s Dad had some Sunday plans so she went home with him..

Donna had to work the day watch at the restaurant so Adam & I got to do whatever we wanted without any adult supervision. I will be making Ham steaks, Mac& Cheese and a vegetable for supper tonight. Ham is high on Donna and my list, and we have been having it more often lately.

My niece Tammy will be coming over tomorrow to stay a few days with us, she will be alternating among all her friends until after the first of January when she will fly back to Mississippi. Hard to believe the little girl we used to take with us on vacation is now in her 40’s, she is the same age as my oldest son Sam Jr. They were pals growing up until Sam moved to New York City, and Tammy moved south. I have a feeling he will be scheduling a visit to the Ranch while she is still in town.

Well that’s about it for the news around Dardenne Prairie, Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna……

Saturday Mumblings.

Was up at 06:00 at had coffee with my bride, then back for a nap with my bride and Rigg’s, Rigg’s is getting to be quite the bed hog when Donna and I are on it, he normally doesn’t fit, but somehow today he wormed his way in. It was funny because when I got up I noticed Nicky’s door was open to the guest bedroom and there Rigg’s was snoozing on her bed with her. When she got up she said she didn’t even know he got up there with her.

Today was a great day for Grandpa and the kid’s, Grandma  made a couple eggs this morning and thinks one or both of them were bad as she got sick from breakfast, she went back to bed. So I decided to take the kid’s out to Planet Fun for a few hours of playing and a lunch there.

                             A Happy Grandpa.

The Planet Fun is a great place for a kid to run and play and meet and play with other kid’s, we generally spend about 3 1/2 hours there and believe me when we get home the kid’s are tired. I just get tired from watching them run.

When I got home I found out that Donna’s stomach was still acting up so she was taking the night off from the restaurant. But at least she got some rest while we were gone and I will make some soup or something for supper and she will get some rest tonight. I hope she is feeling better tomorrow as I bought some Ham Steaks for tomorrow’s dinner.

Well that’s it for today, I sure hope everyone is having as great a weekend as we are. I can’t help but think how lucky I am to have these Grandkids on the weekend and the enjoyment they bring to our home. God has been so good to us in so many ways that a lot of people take for granted, and don’t to stop to enjoy it while they can. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

T.G.I.F.

Was up at 04:30AM with my bride for coffee, Then she was off to the truck company, last year she got off at noon because, nobody else was open, so we will see what happens today. She will still have her shift at the Restaurant tonight.

About 09:00AM I went to Wal-Mart to get a couple groceries, I prefer Shop & Save, but Wal-Mart is the only game in town for hard rolls and their deli is cheaper for cold cuts and they have the same brand names. so that is basically what I did.

Couldn’t believe it when I drove up, for Black Friday there were hardly any cars in front and when I went in there were probably only a dozen customers in the store, an employee said they busy up to about 07:00AM from last night but then the bottom fell out.

Just out of curiosity I walked around, The Electronics section looked like someone through a grenade into it. They were about sold out of TV’s, Camera’s, laptops, and computers. Just about everything that was in the overnight ads was gone. Even a lot of display models, with empty display shelves where the camera’s usually are. I’ll bet they made a fortune in this new overnight thing.

Adam got his team picture from football, here is my favorite.

Adam2012Warriors Football-b

He sure is growing up fast, not the little shadow I had a few years back when he had to be wherever Grandpa was going. I miss those years.

Today we will have to have a project or place to go, haven’t decided for sure yet.

Looks like everyone had a good meal yesterday and most will feasting on Tovars today, Wonder how many turkey sandwiches will bite the dust today.

It is cold today the temp was 34 when I got up and the high is only supposed to be 43 today, but the sun is out and it does look cheery out there.

Almost forgot today is Pizza day and th Grands wanted to help, Nicky is working on her Pizzamaker 2nd class promotion.

Wednesday Musings.

Was up at 04:30PM and had my coffee with my bride, then I realized it was Wednesday and I had forgotten to take the dumper down yesterday so at 05:00AM I was pulling the dumper down the driveway in the dark, right before the end of the driveway is a large cedar tree, The next thing I know a Large buck with a rack taller than me ran across the drive in front of me not 3 feet away, he must have been standing under the tall cedar like they do and I must have spooked him. Needless to say it scared the crap out of me, I parked the tote and went back to the house and told Donna I swear I could still smell him when I got back in the house, he was that close. Like a near miss by a train. Donna wrote an e-mail to her friends when she got to work, I will copy it here, She titled it Close Call.
My son has gone deer hunting the last few weekends….only saw a couple but too far away.
My husband was taking the trash dumpster down to the curb this morning. We have a very long driveway about
250 feet….as he got near the end he said he heard a noise, then a whooshing sound….he stopped and a deer w/ antlers. Taller than he is ran about 2 feet  from him . He said the wind from the deer almost knocked him over….I’m sure
You’ve heard the song about grandmother being run over by a reindeer…..well, I almost had a husband run over by
A deer!..boy, I can just see me trying to fill out an insurance claim on that one .he says he can still smell the thing.

Tammy went back to her friends house and said she would be back to see us this weekend. She had a commitment for Thanksgiving, which is fine, because Donna & I the last few years have been going to a Buffet for the Thanksgiving Meal, and it is so much more convenient with no muss or fuss or cooking all day. Andy goes with his girlfriend to her parents, and Adam is going with his Mom, so with just two of us this is the best way.
Other than the deer sighting not much going on in Dardenne Prairie, back 10 or 15 years ago before the subdivisions sprung up we had deer and cows and you name it all around us. but that ended with civilization.
I guess now when one wanders into town they are completely out of their element.
Be safe out there. Sam & Donna……..

Tuesday Thoughts.

Up at 04:30Am with my pretty bride for coffee. Then it was off to a nap with my buddy Rigg’s.

About 09:00AM I got a great e-mail from My bride telling me my niece Tammy Weibel from Mississippi was in town, then a few minutes later I got a call and she wanted to have her Uncle Sam pick her up for the day. I did and we gabbed at home and then went to Adams bus stop to,pick him up. then we waited for Donna to get home and ordered some pizza’s for supper. Here are a few pics.

That’s about it for tonight, Tammy is enjoying a glass of wine and Sam has his Millers. so everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna…

Monday Meanderings,

Was up at 04:30AM with my bride for coffee, then Rigg’s and I had our morning nap when Donna left. You guys are going to think I O’D’d on pizza friday. Honestly  the weekend just flew by. Between the Grandkids being here and then Sunday we were invited to a Birthday bash at the Restaurant for the owner, Jerry’s wife Laura, so the time flew and no blog was posted.

The highlight of the weekend was of course the party and we all had a great time. The crew at the restaurant are all close like family and that is what the party was like a big family get together. did manage to get a couple pictures.

Sam trying to be good, look at the size of the mugs.

                    Donna & a co-worker.

The food was great, but you would expect that at J’J”s since they do have a reputation for great food, the drinks were good, I usually don’t drink much dark beer, but they had Amber Bock on tap so a had a couple of mugs of that. Wow the mugs were those big ones like you get at that Australian Steak House. Can’t think of the name right now. See what those big mugs do.

Today I went and got the inspection finished on Donna’s car after the windshield was replaced  I had to take the car back to have the new sticker put on and the paperwork picked. Then it was off to Motor Vehicles, and I only has two in front of me, so it was about a ten minute wait and then I got my new stickers for the truck, Donna’s car, and the fiver. My truck I can only get one year stickers because of the weight class, but Donna’s SUV I get a two year sticker, and the Fiver I can get a three year sticker. So next time I will only have the one.

That’s about it for today another sunny day here in Dardenne Prairie and the temperature is 57, hope everyone is having a great week. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

T.G.I.F.

Was up at 04:30AM for coffee with my bride and then she was off to the truck company, and then the restaurant. Now that her windshield is in I did have my good truck back. I went out to Adam’s school to pick him up and enjoy a presentation on Thanksgiving by his class, they were divided into groups and did skits and presentations and showed off hand crafts they made for the show, then afterwards refreshments were served,  a really nice hour for Grandpa to enjoy.

We then headed for the Ranch, where a pizza was put in the oven and is now being consumed at a furious rate by Adam and Nicole, I think there will be a couple left for me too.

Not much going on the Xbox is getting a workout and Nicole is chasing the dogs around, and the house has the normal din associated with Grandkid’s.I always Thank God that my two get along so well, Adam and Nick play well and very seldom disagree, and of course Adam as the bigger cousin is protective of her. Nick is never going to have to worry about being bullied between Adam & Rigg’s protecting her. Sadie not so much , she accepts her place as smallest in the pack and lets the big guys dote on her.

Well that’s about it for today. I hope the weekend goes well for everybody out there in Blog Land. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna……

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Thursday Happenings.

Was up at 04:30PM and had coffee with my bride, then Rigg’s and I had about an hours nap.

The company that was going to replace the windshield in Donna’s car said they would be out between 08:00AM and 12 Noon so I waited for them, The arrived about 09:00AM and in about 30 minutes were finished installing the new windshield. It was a $50 dollar deductible so we didn’t get hit to hard.

Not much to speak of after that, I put her car in the garage for the rest of the day so it would cure.

Adam called and asked if I could pick him up at the bus stop tomorrow after school so we will have a visitor for the weekend.

A slow news day here in Dardenne Prairie. Still cool during the day and not much sun today, We have had a frost each night all week.

That’s about it for today, everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna…….

Tuesday Thoughts/ Wednesday Musings.

As you can see I missed a day of posting, I had good intentions, but we have had a flu bug or something going around our house, first Samantha, had it, then Donna and yesterday right after lunch I felt bad, I called Donna about 02:00PM and told her I was going to take some of that flu medicine, you know the green stuff, and then roll up in a quilt and take a nap. Well that medicine sure knocked me out because I never woke up again until 11:00PM just in time to go to bed. Today I feel a little better bur I think I will wait until after supper to take any flu medicine. Donna has the truck company and the restaurant today, so it is quiet around the Ranch, it is another really nice sunny but cold day. It’s 46 degrees now and that should be about our high for the day. Rigg’s is out and Sadie is laying by Grandpa’s feet here in the kitchen. I took Donna’s car for it’s Safety and emission inspections this morning. It passed the emissions but flunked the safety inspection due to a cracked windshield. It been cracked for ages and passed last year but my inspector said it got worse.I stopped at the insurance agent on the way home and he arranged to have a windshield installed tomorrow at the Ranch for $50 deductible. can’t beat that. Then it will be off to the DMV for new stickers for Donna’s car, my truck, and the Trailer. I’ll bet the girl that gets to wait on me will be happy.

Not much else going on here in downtown Dardenne Prairie. The talk of the town is colder snowy weather coming. Hope everyone is having a good week out there. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

Monday Meanderings.

Was up at 04:30AM and had coffee with my Bride and then she was off at 05:30AM to the truck company, so she didn’t get to see our company off this morning.
GLENDA & JEFF arrived last night around 06:00PM and parked their Casita right in front of one of our Garage doors which was great as we had an electric cord waiting,
After a cocktails we enjoyed a Spaghetti & Meatball dinner and then spent an hour or so just gabbing in the kitchen, talk about life's coincidence’s Jeff is an Air force Vet who spent his time in Rescue Helicopters, and Glenda spent 8 years in the US Navy. boy talk about hearing the rotor blades flash. The big surprise was we found out that Glenda and Sam share a birthday, April 1st 1948. Wow, Glenda said she was born at 11:30AM but I think I was born at 11;30PM so she may be 12 hours older.
It is always as they say so nice to be able to put a face, with a name from your blogger friends, well maybe not my face. But we really enjoyed their visit even though it was far to short this time around.

                  Saying SEE Ya this morning.
All to soon as always happens it was time to say See Ya, as they headed down the road to Kansas City, but not before a promise to stop again in their travels and spend a few days here at the ranch.
Today turned out to be a sunny but cold day, here at the ranch not supposed to get out of the 40’s today but the sun makes it a lot cheerier than yesterday.
Hope this finds everyone having a good week, and please be safe out there. Sam & Donna…….

Sunday Notes.

Was up at 06:00AM and had coffee with my bride, it is a cold gloomy day and the temp started out at 67 is going going steadily downward as the day progresses. Donna is off all day for a change, so we have had a slow day she did some cleaning an vacuuming and Rigg’s and I stayed out of her way, got a call from. GLENDA & JEFF and they said they were a couple of hours east of us on I-64 in Illinois and wanted to know if they could stop for a visit, Naturally we said look no further we have room here at the Weeb Ranch for you guys and your Casita, they also have a dog Kira who I am sure Rigg’s will be interested in meeting, Sadie probably not so much. So around 05:00PM we will be looking for them to pull up the drive.

We always so look forward to fellow blogger company. I told Donna we’ll throw together a pot of spaghetti and have a nice rainy day supper when they arrive.

So since there is always something to do when company is due, I will say see ya for now. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

Saturday Mumblings.

Was up at 06:00AM and had my coffee with my pretty bride.

Since most people will be reading this in Sunday Nov 11th. I have decide to make this my Veterans Day Post.

veterans-day-cool-flag1

Gratitude.jpg

Donna & I would like to personally Thanks all the Veterans out there in Blog land.  As you all well know. the taste of freedom is especially to one who has served his country for it.

As I have said before, I really did enjoy my service to my country and flying in the Navy. but it comes at a terrific cost, I remember checking into my Squadron on a dark night and being told the mortality rate for flight crews was 50%. There were four young men checking in at the office at the same time.Six months later two of those young men burned up on the USS Forestall.

So let’s take a minute to say to Thanks All who have served and remember the ones that didn’t make it home to this great life of freedom we have. Here is my little Tribute to those two young HC-2 young men and all of the 132 others that lost their lives during that fire.

Now on a happier note, while Rigg’s and I were snoozing this morning, Donna surprised me with this.

Sam'scoconutcake11-10-12a

My absolute favorite cake in the whole world, white, with white coconut icing and it is made with Slpenda so the sugar is low.

Haven’t had one of these in ages, Donna has been on a chocolate and Brownie kick for awhile or taking cakes to work for birthdays, but this one is mine…..

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

T.G.I.F.

Was up at 04:30AM for my morning coffee date with my bride. Then she was off to the truck company and then the restaurant. I on the other hand had my morning nap with Rigg’s , and then went to the Grocery store, I wasn’t surprised that out in front was a VFW Vet who I donated to his worthy cause some one’s and received my 2012 Poppy in return.

Rigg's11-09-12a

When I got home Rigg’s wasn’t very impressed by my neat Poppy.

It was a simply gorgeous sunny day here in Dardenne Prairie, sunny all day temps in the low 70’s. Just a great day for Rigg’s and Sadie to get out and run the yard.

Didn’t get much accomplished about 4 loads of wash and then that was about it.

Getting ready to put a pizza in the oven as it is Friday, the kid’s won’t be here, Adam has a sore throat, and Nicky is going someplace with her Dad this weekend.

My Barber found me a used cane so I will see if that helps on the days my feet are hurting the worst. I need to keep as mobile as I can. I really miss the hot weather where I could soak those dogs in the pool or lake. My DR said that is good therapy. but a foot soak at home in a big pan is just not the same.

That’s about it for today, Be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

Thursday Thoughts.

Was up and at em at 04:30AM and had my coffee with my bride. I know this has probably happened to all of you out there especially AL of the Bayfield Bunch who is a great  lover of music of most types. Anyway last night when I was sleeping a song popped into my head, Dancing Queen, it was a real catchy bouncy song that went to number one and I new there were a couple pretty girls in the group but for the life of me I couldn’t remember the name of the group. Luckily when I woke up at 04:30AM I asked Donna if she remembered the song and what group sang it, and after a short time she said yes it was ABBA and they were from Sweden not America.

That’s where the memories came back. In my Navy days I was in the Med on a cruise on the USS Shangri-La which was a veteran WW2 carrier of the Essex class. During those times there were always two carriers in the Med (6 th Fleet) and the other was the USS Independence a nice newer, bigger, and cleaner ship. Naturally at Christmas time, When the Bob Hope USO show came out, The Indy was selected  for the show. Did I mention the Admiral was on the Indy too. and not on our little carrier. We were like a redheaded step child and spent Christmas at anchor in Naples Harbor. Not really the best liberty port especially when your homesick for Christmas. Fast forward a few months and we find out the USO wasn’t going to let us down so when we made a port call in June or July in Palma De Mallorca. The USO scheduled a concert and dance on our hanger bay. All the groups performing, including ABBA, were European Rock bands, Just prior to arriving we had spent 35 days at sea due to one of the many crisis in the Eastern end of the Med at that time. What we didn’t know was that they had flown two plane loads of college girls from Sweden to attend and provide dancing partners.

As luck would have it the day of the concert I had drawn the duty crew so in order to see the show a couple hours before we went to the hanger bay and saw that one of our helo’s was facing the stage and right next the dance floor. Me and the other crewman grabbed the front seats and waited for the show to begin. We were dressed in flight suits since you had to be ready in case they had an emergency and had to  launch a helo. The uniform for the show was Dress Whites. We were dressed in our flight suits which were tan or orange at the time, about half way through the show I noticed two gorgeous blond obviously Swedish looking girls looking our way and pointing at us, I had just enough time to tell my fellow crewman OH OH. when they came over and pulled us from the helo, and took us on the dance floor with them. After several dances we convinced them we better go man our aircraft, which was really our det hanger queen. Sure enough the Officer in charge of our Det. called us in the maintenance office the next day and  wanted to know what the hell we were doing on the dance floor in flight suits. Naturally we told him we were kidnapped and that we didn’t want these fine young ladies from another country to think we were rude so we had to accept their request for a dance. He just smiled and said At least now I have something to tell the ships Captain when I get my ass chewed. I don’t think he ever heard a word about it.

About ten years later I met a skinny blonde who was every bit as beautiful as those girls at the dance. and guess what , I married her, now almost 34 years later Donna and I are still married and she always was and will be a Dancing Queen.

Hey I hope I didn’t bore you with my story, now if I can just get that music out of my head, How do you do that Al?

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Wednesday Musings.

Was up at 04:30AM with my bride and had coffee, Then Rigg’s and I took a quick nap, and then I had to jump in the rain locker, and get ready for a 09:00AM Doctors. appointment. My every three months checkup and oil& filter change. I swear they draw 4 quarts of blood out of me every three months. After the normal look see, Dr. Steve said all looked well and my numbers were still good, so he would see me in 3 months or 3000 miles.

Went to the hobby shop on the way home and got a couple of train magazines, haven’t been there in ages.

Then it was back home before I spent any more money. Donna has the restaurant duty tonight, so I will have to see if Nicky is coming over after school to decide what to make for supper. That is normally the big decision of the day.

Don’t know if I mentioned it before but a few days ago another guy my my Navy Days found me on Facebook, hard to believe it’s been 40 years ago and all of us are in our middle 60’s now.

Another cloudy cool day, it won’t reach 50 degrees today, but no rain. I told the Doctor today I miss being out at the Lake no matter how hot it was and soaking all day in the water.

Heard from my kid’s that it is snowing on the Jersey coast where they just rode out the storm. Just what they need. I just hope the power stays on.

Be safe out there, Sam & Donna…….

Tuesday Thoughts.

Was up early for coffee with my bride, and we had our coffee, then she was off to work at the truck company. I blogged for a little while and Rigg’s and I took our morning nap, along with Sadie who wanted up on the bed too.

About 10:30AM I headed out to Immaculate Conception Church, my old parish, this is also my polling place, kind of nice to have God watching things to make sure all is peaceful, I won’t get into any politics, but for a change their were only two pole workers outside and I got in and out within a half hour,no hassles and nobody trying to change your mind at the last minute. I always hating running the gauntlet of pole workers, I guess I have the mindset that if I don’t know who I am going to vote for by election day. I wouldn’t waste my time going.

That done I went home and kept the TV off so I didn’t have to endure any last minute commercials. Did take in a train movie this after noon though.

Only thing of note going on today is it’s dumper day so the dumper has to go down to the end of the driveway for the Wednesday morning pickup.

Donna said she would be stopping on the way home from work to vote, I’ll bet that will be a madhouse. The polls don’t open until 07:00AM and she leaves for work at 05:30AM so she has to wait until after. For the first time the schools were closed here in MO. for election day. Don’t know why or if government offices were closed too.

Well that’s about it for today from Dardenne Prairie, it’s another rainy cloudy cold day. Hope everyone is having a great day. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…

Sunday/Monday Meanderings.

Sunday we were up at 0600AM for our coffee and then at 09:00AM Donna had to leave for the day shift at the restaurant. We were going to go out for supper but it was just another cold dreary day, so Donna brought home roast beef sandwich's.
Today started at 04:30AM with coffee with my bride, then she was off to the truck company. I got an e-mail later that there was a box in the garage for me to bring upstairs, it turned out it was a new Bissell sweeper, the kind without bags. I got it in the kitchen and looked at the box and saw the dreaded words, ( some assembly required). After I got it together, there in the bottom of the box, under some cardboard was the instruction book. You would think they would have put that right on top when you opened it.
NewBissellVac
Mom’s new sweeper, she will be taking it on a test hop around the neighborhood when she gets home.
I know most of you are animal lovers and I never tire of reading about our military service dogs, especially Labs that predominate the IED sniffer ranks. Can’t help but fall for the Black ones that remind me of Rigg’s, What do you think.

Well that’s about it for today. It had been another cold cloudy dreary day here in Dardenne Prairie, a little on and off rain to make it worse. Haven’t left the house.  Hope everyone is having the start of a good week. a lot of thee travelers have reached their destinations safely, The kid’s in New Jersey all have their power back and are helping to dig out and clean their neighborhood, It’s great how almost everyone able body pitches in to help.
Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna……

Saturday Mumblings.

Got up about 05:00AM and had coffee with my bride, I took the dough out that I needed to thaw for pizza tonight. I know it’s not Friday but I thought Donna was going to be off from the restaurant last night so I was going to surprise her and take her out for dinner, I got the surprise because she had to work anyway.

So tonight is Pizza night at the Weeb Ranch, as I type this it is baking in the oven, looks like it will be a good one. I may have some left as here is no kid’s just my Son ,his girlfriend and I and they are not big pizza eaters. Thank God I was born with Talian heritage as I love any thing Italian.

This will be a shorty blog tonight as I didn’t do anything today worthwhile. I let Donna get a nap today before she headed out to the restaurant and just filed some pictures on the laptop.

Hope everyone is having a great night and weekend, it was cloudy and cold here all day even Rigg’s didn’t stay out long, just a damp and dreary day.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

T.G.I.F.

Donna and I were up about 05:00AM, we had our coffee and then just sat around.Today Donna is off from both the truck company and the restaurant. This morning is Donna’s friend Renee’s husband’s funeral, she will be spending the day with her.Her and Renee are best friends and Renee is like the little sister she never had. I didn’t go, seems like I just don’t like funerals anymore, been to way to many lately. I really feel for the three kid’s two girls 19 and 16 and a 13 year old boy. He’s just a year older than Adam. That’s way to young to be without a Dad, I see how Adam depends on his Dad and I for guidance, I will try to include him is our camping this summer if he wants to go.They only live a few blocks away and belong to our parish.

Believe it or not I am still in jammies again at noon not planning on going anywhere, but I better get dressed in case someone comes by the house with Donna, already had Samantha’s girlfriend Lisa come by, but she is family.

Sunny day here at the Ranch and 50 degree’s which is about normal. Rigg’s and Sadie have their sunny spots staked out on the floor by the back door.

Other than that a slow news day here. Oh yeah the kid’s in New Jersey both got their power back today so they are proceeding with the cleanup after the storm.

Everyone have a fine weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…

Thursday Happenings.

Was up early and had coffee with my bride and then she was off to the truck company.

I want to give a big welcome to two new Followers, SHOELESS JOE, he has a blog as you see and I must say I enjoy his sense of humor already, plus he is from just up highway 61 about 50 miles from me in Hannibal MO.

Also Welcome to THE BOONEDOCKS they too have a blog so check them out, they are full timers and are enjoying there new lifestyle. I hope all of you enjoy following the antics around the Weeb Ranch and on our travels as we progress toward getting Donna retired and us on the road. I am sure Rigg’s can keep them entertained with his antics as there is never a dull moment with 100 plus pounds of black Lab who still thinks he’s a puppy.

This sure been an up and down week here at the Ranch between the perfect storm and Donna’s friend losing her husband. As a short update the kid’s in New Jersey both in Point Pleasant, and Brick. Are still as if this afternoon without power. My Daughter in Law in Point Pleasant said there are wires and poles down everywhere and she doesn’t think it will be repaired for days yet. My son in Brick is a builder so he has hitched a generator for power to keep food from spoiling and a few lights.

I told the kid’s in Point Pleasant to jump in the car and head out for a visit, but I know they won’t they are just like me and when there’s a crisis here I will ride it out until all is well, and then take a break.

Halloween night came and went and we only had a few treaters, all the kid’s around here are grown up and plus our drive is about 400 feet long and most kid’s won’t walk it just for some candy. When my kid’s were little the one neighbor would decorate a wagon and pull it with a tractor and take kid’s from house to house. Now the farms are gone and the traffic wouldn’t allow it anyway.

They still do that out at the Lake though, and have a big party at the campground which marks the end of the camping season.

Well that’s bout it for today here at the ranch, Rigg’s and I had a slow day it got up to 60 with the sun in and out all day.

Hope everyone is having a great day, and be safe out there. Sam & Donna……….
