Monday Meanderings.

Up early and Donna was off to the truck company, Then I took Nicole to school at 07:00AM. The weather has been pretty varied the last two days, Sat night we had bad thunderstorms, then Sunday it got up into the 70’s and the sun came out. Nicole decided to take her kite out to the side yard and fly it.

Sadie just watching the kite flying and waiting to be the center of attention again.

All in all Nicole had a blast and the kite lived to fly another day.

I am still concerned about getting the trailer ready for summer, if I fill it and flush the lines with water we may get one more freeze, it says 34 for Friday night, since we aren’t going anywhere this weekend I think I will wait. We have just had to much cold weather this year to let a couple nice days make you think it’s warm weather already.

Rigg’s is getting his afternoon nap on the kitchen floor waiting for his Mom to come home from work, Donna has an appointment with her heart specialist so we are waiting to see if all went well.

Not much else going on it was sunny all after noon, some rain this morning, now it looks like it is clouding up again. Typical weather for this time of the year, the ground is saturated though so even if I wanted to there will be no mowing until we get some sunny warm and windy days in a row to dry it up some.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

Sunday Notes.

Well it was another nice sunny morning today, At 08:00AM I was in front of Lowes, when they opened the door, went to the tool department, and found the pop rivet guns, they had three models, $15.99, $19.99, & $25.99 the difference in price being how long the handles were and how big a diameter rivet they would hold, Naturally I needed the heaviest one for the size I had, and that was good since that one came with the longest handles. Anyone who has riveted with one of these tools know you have to crimp the handles closed using quite a bit of force until the tail of the rivet snaps off, hence the name pop rivet.
When I got home It was nice and comfortable so I started work on the project which was replacing the rubber seals that cover the hinges on the front and back section of the four sections of my hard cover on my truck, the center section was still fine. there were 13 rivets on each side of each hinge, for a total of 52 rivets. All had to be drilled out and then the old rubber taken off and new rubber and gasket material put in, when you put the gasket under the rubber seal it covers all the holes so you have to put the seal on the hinge and then find the holes by gently probing it and once you get the rivets in the four holes in each end of the hinge and riveted you can work your way to the middle. A tedious job to say the least. It took one hour per hinge and about 30 minutes additional cussing time as out of 52 rivets I got three that wouldn’t pop the tails off, so I had to run an air line out and cut the tails off with a cutting wheel.
Didn’t have the camera down by the truck while I was doing the job but here is a couple of the finished job.

Sam’s truck bead seals, the front and rear were changed.
After I got finished at about noon I took Adam home to Warrenton MO. and on the way back I remembered Donna telling me her A/C wasn’t working on the Escape. So I stopped and got 2 lbs of Freon, at the auto parts store, anybody priced that lately, last year I paid $7.99 a lb. Today it was $14.99 a lb. I got home and it took just shy of a lb to have her back to getting good and cold in the front seat.

If Momma’s not happy nobody’s happy.
I got her job done about 02:00PM and then it was time for a little relax time.
Rigg’s and Sadie haven’t had much blog time lately, Rigg’s is Mr Gentle Ben still when it comes to his sister, and Sadie plays him to the hilt.

Gee Dad Sadie is in my bowl again, I know share with your little sister.
Of course for sharing I gave him some more food later and a treat.
Not much else going on here at the Weeb Ranch, hope everyone had a great weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Saturday Mumblings.

Really late post today,We had rain and thunder storms all night, lots of rain, then about 10:00AM the sun came out and by noon it was in the 80’s and just a beautiful day.

I decided I would replace the rubber seals on the cover to my truck. Started to get all all the stuff I needed to do the job, cordless drill, bits, sharp knife, and then try as I might I couldn’t find my pop rivet gun, It has been on the door to my roll away cabinet for twenty years, and only gets used occasionally, I know it’s been 5 years or more since I used it. but it evidently just up and walked away. some packages of rivets were on the shelf but no tool. Don’t you just love it I asked my son if he had used it or if maybe someone borrowed it and he said no. So that was it. I didn’t feel like going to find a replacement so Sunday morning I will go to Lowes and see if they have one.

Andy & Samantha took the kid’s down to St Louis for some Motorcross Races.

I just stayed around the house and enjoyed the day. Donna left for the restaurant about 04:00PM .

That’s about it for today, Be safe out there. Sam &Donna….

TGIF

First of all I want to welcome follower 102 Andy Altes, couldn’t find a blog listed for him, so if you have one get it to us. I hope you enjoy the antics here at the Weeb Ranch in Dardenne Prairie MO.

Today is going to be a shorty, I got all three of the Grand kids here and they are all going with my Son Andy & Samantha to IHOP for supper tonight, I think I can see some orders of supper pancakes, in their future.

I went to the doctor for my every 3 month check and he said like always he is happy with my numbers and to keep it up and he would see my in July. He did an EKG and also circulation tests on both feet and legs and said all was well.

So that's about it for today, Hope everyone has a good weekend, it should be loud and lively here at the Weeb ranch with the kids here and nice weather projected.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna….

Thursday Happenings.

Started the day with Donna heading for the truck company, then getting Nicole up for school, boy that little girl sleeps sound, she is harder to wake up than any of my boys were. It was 50degrees when we left for Augusta to get her to school. Got back and waited to see if the rubber seals for the hinges on my fold a cover for the truck were coming today, didn’t see UPS or Fed Ex or the postal service truck so that isn’t going to happen. The rubber seal over two of the hinges is cracked and for the first time since I got the cover 6 years ago it is not watertight. Luckily I could order replacements but it looks like about 24 rivets have to be drilled out, and Thankfully I own a rivet gun, so I will be able to do it here instead of having to pay someone.

Went and picked up Nicole this afternoon and since it was sunny and 70 degrees we stopped at the DQ and bought shakes for the three kids, Nicole, Chris and Grandpa.

Tomorrow I should be getting Adam after he gets out of school so we will have all three Grands for the weekend. My son Andy & Samantha have plans for taking them places since it is supposed to be warm and sunny this weekend.

After we got home from Augusta I went out and removed the two batteries from the fiver, the bottom one needed very little water, after being plugged in for the winter, but the top one took quite a bit, I will see if they both take a good charge if not they are about 3 years old, so I may see two batteries in my future, at least before our vacation trip. I forgot this new fiver didn’t have the charge wizard like my old one did, and I was spoiled since the charge wizard wouldn’t boil the batteries out. When it’s due for a converter, I will replace the one that came in it with a Progressive  Dynamic’s converter with the built in charge wizard.

Not much else to say. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…..

Wednesday Musings.

Today started like always, up early and Donna off to the truck company Nicole was up a few minutes early because today was The Walking School Bus day at her school, she got dressed in a special T-Shirt for the occasion.

Nicole04-06-11a

Nicole , Rigg’s likes the shirt too.

All the kids were dropped off at the Augusta American Legion post about 5 blocks from the school and then walked like they were in a parade from there to school. Would have been more fun if it wasn’t 40 degrees but the kids didn’t mind.

Today it got up to 80 degrees. Not much doing here at the house. At 02:00PM I went back to Augusta to pick Nicole up, she gets out at 02:45PM and it is a 35 minute drive to get there.

When she gets home both the dogs need their hugs, Not that I am a little enamored of my Grandaughter but here is a couple of pictures from today.

Boy time is sure flying. but that means the warm weather will be here soon. Not much else for today, I hope everyone is enjoying their week. Life is good as you can see by the pictures. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Tuesday Notes.

Another sunny day started out with Donna heading to the truck company, and then Nicole and I heading for Augusta to get her to school.

The I waited all day for the Fed-Ex delivery, and when I had to leave at 02:00PM to go get Nicole it still hadn’t arrived.

When we got home sure enough the Fed-Ex guy had been there , luckily my son Andy heard him and so Donna’s new laptop was delivered.

             Donna’s new Dell Inspiron.

I spent several hours putting Microsoft Office, Streets and trips, Live Writer, Picasso, Microsoft Security Essentials, and then transferring mail and address books so it will be ready to go.

It is really a beauty and the speed is unbelievable, I hope it turns out to be as good a machine as the other two Dells we have had.

Since i got a late start on this post this will be a shorty tonight. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
