Cincinnati.

Sorry for the lapse of a week in the blog we have had several health, and campground issues that have delayed us from posting on a daily basis., Like no wi-fi. No electricity, A bug that got Sam for a day. Anyway When we let Corning NY. we went to Niagara Falls we stayed at a nice Park called The Niagara Falls Campground, WE stayed three nights during an unusual cold spell where it was 9n the 50’s at night and the 60’s during the day, no swimming Pool for Sam.
There was a tour agency at the Campground so we elected to take the Canadian side tour in Niagara Falls Ont. It was a nice sunny day and they pick you up at 11am and return at about 5pm. the tour included a trip on the Maid of the Mist boat which goes to the bottom of each falls.
It takes you to all the sights around the Ontario side including the Niagara Whirlpool, the last stop is the Mad of the Mist. as luck would have right after we got off the tour bus, Donna turned on her oxygen tank and it started leaking air. she was already weak from walking so we had to stop at a bench while I checked the tank and found a gasket had fallen off , luckily it was n the bottom of the bag and I reinstalled it and the tank was again working without leaks and supplying Donna with her much needed oxygen, unfortunately by the time she had fully recovered, our group was so far ahead that we could not have caught up with them so we missed the boat ride. We did however get some great pictures from the Canadian side, A trip to Niagara Falls Ont. should be on everyone's list, but be advises everyone on the bus must get off and go through customs to show their passports, same on the return to the US side.

On leaving Niagara Falls we headed south towards Ohio, We stopped for the night at Green Acres Campground in Lake Milton Oh. It was a nice place lot’s of families however we had a problem the next day when a Bug got Sam , so we requested to stay another night, Sam had asked when he checked in if we would be able to extend a night with out moving and they had said yes.
We are at green acres campground. Sam isn't feeling well this morning and didn't feel up to driving he said to call office and extend by one night. First off I'm not happy with this place anyway...30 a night and electric only no wifi etc...I called and explained to lady that my husband wasn't feeling well and we needed to stay one more night...she speaks very broken english, I had repeat my husband is sick we need to stay one more night...told to hold on...then came back and asked me again what I wanted...told her again for the 3rd time...hold on again...finally came back and said we would have to move to a dry site...told her if we had to move we would just leave, if he felt well enough to breakdown rv and hook then we were out of here as I could drive. again told them if we hook we leave, hold on again...no you have to move...then we are leaving and believe me I will not give you a good review on the internet....then she said come office and talk to me..that's when I told her she didn't want me coming to the office as mad as I was...well she came to camper and Sam went out and talked to her...she was half my size and I know I would probably have tried something that I shouldn't...don't get this Irishman that mad! smile emoticon....now after much debate with Sam we are going to stay in this lousy place and hope he feels better tomorrow. he told her he asked when he checked in if we needed would there be a problem staying an extra night and was told no...he just got back from paying for tonight and said her and another gal made a very big deal out of switching someone site...how hard is it they aren't even here yet.
The next morning we set out For Delaware,OH which was halfway to Cincinnati, we stayed at the Cross Creek Campground where we stayed last month on the way east, this is a first rate campground, although the first night we had electrical problems, where a breaker for that section of the campground would fail and new would be without power, since Donna needs her oxygen machine all night, she called the office and they said they were working on it and offered another site if they couldn’t get it fixed in a short time, after several more outages the power remained on and the oxygen and ac were good to go. A big difference n attitude from the previous campground, we even extended another site.

Camp Bell NY.

After leaving Scranton on Friday morning, we drove north into the state of New York, about 90 miles from Binghamton is the towns of Corning, and Painted Post. The Camp Bell Campground is just outside Corning on Rt 415. It is a clean well kept place with plenty of activities, it’s focus is family camping and they have a huge playground and a heated pool, something that is welcome since the temperatures drop into the 50’s at night but are in the 80s during the day. Sat Sam went swimming all afternoon and got to watch the barrel roll competition in the pool. Donna headed out in the truck and did some sightseeing.

It is raining as we have our morning coffee here in Scranton on this holiday, hopefully it will stop and just be a mild and cloudy day later. We were supposed to take a train from Scranton to East Stroudsburg Pa. today but it was cancelled at the last minute due to a track washout in the Pocono Mountains.
We will spend the day just puttering and visiting with relatives.
Be safe out there. Sam & Donna……….

Scranton at last.

We arrived yesterday afternoon in Scranton, Sam’s hometown, we are driveway docking in my cousin Sam and Miriam Genett’s driveway. what a beautiful place, this home used to be my Grandfather and Grandmothers house. Sam & Miriam have completely rehabbed and landscaped the lace and it is really a work of art. Here are a few pictures.

The weather has been in the 60’s at night and high 70’s during the day, no air conditioner needed. Sam G. has a miniature Doberman about Sadie's size and a fenced in yard so Rigg’s has a playmate and room to run. My sister Wendy came down for a visit last night and we all sat on the patio and talked and had a couple of cocktails. Donna went in early has she was having a hard day with her breathing.but the rest of us stayed up until after 10:00PM.

We  plan on staying about a week before heading north in to New York State and then to Niagara Falls. Then a side trip into Ontario Canada for a couple days, leaving the trailer in Niagara Falls. We have now been on the road for a month and it feels good to be out.

That’s about it for today, hope all is well with all our friends ,be safe out there. Sam & Donna……

Jim Thorpe Pa.

We left the Circle W Ranch, my Son Tim’s home in Farmingdale NJ.yesterday morning, and headed west back into Pa.

                                                   Tim’s Place.

It was a little over two hours of diving before we arrived at the Jim Thorpe Camping Resort. Just as we approached JIm Thorpe it started to rain hard so Sam had to park and drain the tanks which were full in the rain. For someone who was staying a couple days JIm Thorpe is a scenic little town with plenty to see and a restored downtown area, since it was raining so hard we just left the truck hooked up for  the night. Today we will head north to Scranton where we will driveway dock in my Cousins Sam Genets place, which used to be my Grandmother and Grandfathers house. we plan a week or more of visiting friends and relatives,

Due to the rain no pictures were taken in Jim Thorpe.Everyone be safe, Sam & Donna..

Jersey Days

Can’t believe its been so long since we posted, We have been kept really busy here in Farmingdale NJ at my Son Tim’s Ranch. He and Bonnie are the proud owners of a small horse ranch they named it the Circle W Ranch . We have been to several dinners and babysat for the two youngest Granddaughters. Had a day at the Beach at Point Pleasant which is only a 15 minutes away from Tim’s. Had the pleasure of attending a horse rally and watched Meghen compete in Barrel racing on her horse Dude,Dude is a big guy, she was the youngest in her class, and had the biggest horse.

We Have spent two and half weeks here and it has been great, I am so proud of the parenting Tim & Bonnie and Tim are doing with the Grand girls both of them are such hard workers, Bonnie even helped with putting the jacks down and setting the trailer  up while my back was out, two trips to the local Chiropractor and I am now well on the road to recovery. We have decided to stay one more night and then leave tomorrow and head for Scranton , with a stop for the night in Jim Thorpe PA. It’s only a three hour drive to Scranton, but we are in no hurry and would like to camp in the Pa Mountains.

We will sure miss our NJ family but I think Bonnie and the girls are excited about a,visit to The Weeb Ranch in Dardenne Prairie. Now we will visit hometown relatives and friends in Scranton before heading into the Catskill’s and then Niagara Falls and Canada.

That’s about it for today, Everyone be safe, Sam & Donna.

Bonnie’s Birthday

Ran some errands  yesterday, one was to the Miracle Ear store. Sam’s hearing aids are less than a month old and one stopped working…turns out there is this tiny little filter that had clogged and needed replacement.  Great service, we were in and out and they gave us extra filters if it happens again.

The granddaughters and a friend came out to rig to meet Riggs. He sat patiently (begging) as they ate their ice cream

then it was petting time! lots of kisses and giggles

Grandpa,Rigg's&thegirls06-17-15b Then Riggs found a ball and game on. Katie the older girl learned the trick…you tell Riggs drop it and ignore him and he will give you ball….younger one Meghan kept trying to pull it from him…well heck that’s tug and tug her he did and shook her….she thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Back at the house Meghan showed us her 1st place ribbon and her Championship belt buckle,it weighs almost as much as she does Meghen'sbuckle06-17-15aMeghen06-17-15a Dinner last night with Bonnie, Tim, her parents Rick and Becky, her brother Eric and sil Michelle. and their friend Rich.  Went to a place called The Little Taste of Cuba. Food was fabulous…we had everything from octopus, to fungo. I had grilled pork chops that were out of this world.

Dinner06-17-15b

This is fungo…plantains and pork. Would you look at the size of that.

There was a band playing across the street in front of the Town Hall and the girls went outside to listen. This is a great little downtown area, just bustling with life. Reminds me a lot of Old Town St Charles.
