Saturday Mumblings.

Well today was a cold one here in Scranton, stayed around the house until 5:00PM an then Michelle and I jumped in the truck and headed to the railroad yards at Sreamtown to see the CP Rail Holiday Train, which is touring the Northeast US and Canada wherever CP Rail runs. They have decorated the train and they are collecting Food and Toys for the Needy. What a great way again to teach a youngster it is better to give than receive.

Here are some pictures, I want my Canadian friends to know they can be very proud of this train and what they are doing to help the poor at this holiday season.

It was about 20 degrees and starting to snow so we headed into the Mall because walking the length of a passenger train makes a girl and her Grandpa hungry.

My old friend DL 3642, from the derailment pictures, in front, is back in service waiting to pull a freight.

Did I mention Michelle got to warm up and play in the playland at the Mall before we went home. Playing is pretty tough so she had to have a big blue Slurpee Ice ( the kind that turns your tongue blue) on the way home. All in all a good night and I know one girl who was tired out when we got home.

Well that’s about it for Saturday, this post is late going out anyway. Be Safe Out There, Sam & Donna……

  5. Love the pictures of the train. Ron and I usually have a date night to go and drive around to look at Christmas lights...guess we won't be doing that till Christmas Eve. Something fun for me to look forward to.

Glad you are having fun with your "granddaughter" just think of the memories you are making for her.

  7. Sam, I suspect that your little friend, Michelle, will be very sad when you leave Scranton. It looks like you are spending some quality time with her!

  9. What a great idea that is with the train & the lights look so great. I'm wondering if the lights are able to remain on the train while it's in transit or do they decorate it at each stop. Think how magical that would look to see that train fully lit up in it's Christmas finery making it's way across the landscape on a frosty moonlit rural night.

  10. Oh what a fantastic trip out and about with Michelle! Has she read The Polar Express? Not just watching a movie, (thought Tom Hanks was great in the movie) .. but to read the book and enjoy it together?
