Saturday Mumblings.

Well it started out as a cloudy day, but in the middle of the morning it turned into a nice sunny clear day, I decided to catch up on some of the stuff I had put off yesterday.During the winter somebody ran over and destroyed 4 of the low voltage lights I have along my drive way. I went to Lowes & Home Depot looking for replacements, but they only stocked solar powered and my driveway has three at the far end that don’t recharge because of the shade. I finally found four of the wired in ones at another hardware outlet, so I decided today was the day. Got that done and then I noticed that a lot of the wet areas I could mow the other day had dried quite a bit so I got John Deere out and went out and started on that. only have one little area now that has to dry some more and then it will be time to start over.

It’s 04:00PM and its 81 degrees but it looks like some clouds are rolling in the forecast for the rest of today says partly cloudy and some passing clouds, but no mention of rain, Maybe we’ll have a nice Mother’s Day after all.

That’s about it for now hope everyone's weekend is going fine. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

TGIF

A very short post today, Nicoles  Father lost his first wife to a disease, since Nicole and Samantha knew her he requested they attend her funeral, Nicole is 8 years old but is pretty sharp for eight and knows what is going on so I said I thought she could handle it. I based this on the fact that my son Andy was 8 years old when in sight of two weeks both his Grandmothers died, He did not and still doesn’t handle death well. But Nicole  seems much more astute at her eight. I hope Samantha made the right decision in going with her to the funeral.

Anyway it’s been a slow day here at the ranch sunny nice and just a lazy day. I just felt lazy so I decided to take the day off, Tomorrow is Saturday so I will catch up then.

One picture today, Rigg’s after Donna got up that he needed all the comforts afforded his Mom so look who took over her pillow this morning, normally he naps at the bottom of the bed.

Thursday Happenings.

Up  early, then Rigg’s talked me into laying on the bed and watching a train movie with him, did I tell you he is a train dog.He likes the steam engines when they go by on the TV.

It turned out to be a great day no rain sunny and the temperature this afternoon got into the 70’s, a perfect afternoon to putter, I got a new US flag for the 5th wheel so I mounted it to the pole it goes on and then rolled it up and put it in the storage compartment, Then I decided to get rid of some scratched I had on the bed of my truck and one on the front fender that looked like it had been keyed.

I had gotten some Maguires Scratch remover for clear coat paint, it comes in a black plastic bottle and is $10 a bottle but I thought I would try it. You can’t use the Dupont polishing compound I used to use as it tears up the clear coat.

This stuff from Maquires is amazing of course I bought new polishing clothes but it really got rid of about 90 per cent of all the little scratches I had including the key scratch .The only one I couldn’t get I knew it wouldn’t do because you could see where the paint was gone to the primer. But the rest are gone and nice and shiny.

Nicole came home from school and said she had a great day, she is now helping her Mom make Enchilada's, she is the cheese spreader, that’s a pretty important job. Grandpa can’t wait to eat some of her handiwork.

Not much else got accomplished , tomorrow I plan to install the new blades that UPS delivered on John Deere and then maybe do some cutting , I’ll sharpen the ones I take off and make sure they aren’t bent and then that will give a sharp set to change out later in the summer again, the trouble is it doesn’t take much to bend one and then they are junk.

That’s about it for today, Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Wednesday Musings.

Was up just after Donna left for work at 05:30AM, I was awake while she had her coffee and got ready for work but I just laid on the bed next to Rigg’s and both of of just relaxed and let Mom get started. I always like to be up and moving while Nicole gets ready for school in case I have to take her, or just to make sure I tell her to have a good day at school and to say Love Ya. before she leaves, I always want my Grandkids to hear that before they leave.

Today was another cooler spring day sunny but it never got above 59 degrees. I decided I would put the steps on my truck that I bought to replace the rails that rusted out, these babies are polished aluminum alloy and aren’t going to rust in my lifetime. It took about 45 minutes, but it sure amazes me how much slower I am getting back up after working on my back under the truck, that ten years ago., where does your youth go. My son Andy was going to do it and then chickened out when he found out you had to drill holes in the frame. He said he doesn’t drill holes in my good truck.

Anyway they turned out just fine and I am happy with the way they look.

I really never use them but Donna liked the old ones so they are for when she rides in it.

Starting tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny and warmer maybe hitting the 80’s by the weekend.Haven’t heard yet whether Adam is coming over yet or not, his Mom was in the hospital with an infection in her arm. so he was staying with his other Grandma.

That’s about it from the Weeb Ranch for today, I hope everyone is having a fine day and I will leave you with this picture of Sadie after a hard day of playing with Rigg’s.

Tuesday Notes.

Today was a cool but sunny day which turned out good since the ground looks like it is drying up slowly maybe by Friday I can make another couple passes on the lawn, by then my new blades should be delivered from John Deere. Did get one thing accomplished, I had a clearance light on the roof of the truck burned out so I replaced it, I also made a grocery store run and got some nice looking cube steaks for $4. a pair, I like  mine with some provel cheese melted on top.

Sadie & Rigg’s were feeling Patriotic today. Rigg’s seems to think he would make a good military dog in blacks ops. what do you think.

Sadie says she would just stay home and wait for Rigg’s to get home.

Only got to about 60 degrees today, which isn’t bad but just a little cooler than my favorite 80 and sunny.

Nicole just got home from school, I think she has girl scouts tonight. So she is hitting the homework early, I will say she gets a homework assignment every night, I like that in a school , they are at least trying to give each kid a good start on an education.

Oh well now I will have to think of what I want to make with the cube steaks, so many decisions, but I wanted Donna to have a nice supper tonight as she is at the restaurant starting tomorrow.

JUDY AT TRAVELS WITH EMMA had asked if I might be taking the fiver out for it’s first shake down and  operational readiness cruise this weekend, from the looks of the forecast I may wait, it still is looks like some wet weather and cooler temps in the forecast and nothing ruins a kids weekend faster than rain. so I will take a wait and see attitude. You can bet though before our Wisconsin trip we will make a couple of shorties with the Grandkid’s just for fun and to keep Grandpa busy. That’s what’s nice about being able to go to the Lake.Campground.

Also I was asked how my sister Wendy in PA is doing, she has finished her therapy and basically done although she says she still has a little pain, she is getting around fine, and the doctors have basically told her that this is about as good as it gets since some of the pain is from local arthritis and will have to be dealt with with Tylenol. or some such pain relief. She has told me that the handrails I installed have made life so just much easier for living in a two story house and now she can get up and down with no trouble.

Saw a 4000 watt generator at Lowes with wheels and a nice handle and also a 30amp socket for an RV cord, wish I knew if it was quiet or not since the price was around $600 I asked the sales guy if he knew how quiet it was or a DB rating and he didn’t, he said it should be any louder than a lawn mower, I told him you would want my 25 horse John Deere running next your bedroom window all night. So I will have to try to check it out on the web.

It appeared to be a lot better put together than the contractor grade generators nearby.

Well that’s about it for now. Be safe out there..

Monday Meanderings.

“I’ve never wished a Man dead, But I’ve read some obituaries with great pleasure”MARK TWAIN.

I have to thank my Niece Tammy Weibel for finding this quote. She has always been the scholar of the family. Of course you know I am referring to the death Of OSAMA BIN LADEN . After ten & half long years of being the worlds most wanted fugitive he was found and killed in a firefight in Pakistan. I applaud the US Navy Seals that carried out his danger fraught mission  and concluded it successfully.

I have to admit I have felt the same pleasure reading other Obits in my life, particular those of the killers of Police Officers I served with and knew. It is a pleasure that is bitter sweet, as your comrades will never return and the acts of these killers have pained so many you know.

So on to todays blog It is a cold and cloudy day again in Dardenne Prairie, really damp but no rain to speak of, waiting for Nicole to get home from school and Donna to get home from work.

Not much going on nothing could be accomplished around here with the current weather I went out back to survey what would need to be done to get rid of our burn pile now that burning isn’t allowed anymore, the ground is just water soaked.

I will have to drag the pieces over to the end of the driveway and then hire someone with a chipper and dump truck to chip it all and haul the chips away.

Other than that nothing else going on. Hope everyone is having a good week. From the looks of it we are going to have a sunny Tues-Wed, rainy Thurs, and then a sunny Friday with temps in the 70’s Friday.

Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…

Sunday Notes.

Up at 06:00AM had coffee and read some blogs, We are supposed to a have a cool but sunny day, Donna & I started by getting rid of all the old carpet from the bedroom project that has been stored out on our sun porch, it had to be folded and tied up and then put stacked in the back of the truck and tomorrow I will take it to the dumpster. As long as we were cleaning it, all the wood shavings were picked up and the floor was vacuumed and then wet mopped. It now can used again a a nice screen porch until the weather gets to hot,

Donna wanted to do some trimming with the chain saw, but I have found over the last couple years since she had her heart procedure, that she just doesn’t have the strength to start it if she stalls it. and the one I have is a 20 inch blade with a pretty good sized motor so it is heavy. Her upper body and arm strength isn’t what it used to be, and I know I get tired of lugging it after awhile.
I decided to get her an early Mother’s day present so I went to Lowes and they had a Poulan 14 inch electric chain saw that was really light in weight and would be just perfect for the smaller stuff she wanted to trim. My gas saws are Poulans and they make a good saw.

                 Donna’s Mothers Day gift.
The best part was it was on SALE for $49.99. I think she is happy with it and I know I will be with not having to walk across the yard when the saw stalls and having to start it again. Oh by the way that is the last time it will see the cook station table top, I had just taken it out of the box for a picture and I hadn’t put oil in it for the chain so I knew it was squeaky clean. The only table it will see after this is one of the work benches or the truck tailgate.
All in all we had a good day and got some stuff accomplished and tonight I will be taking Donna to Country Buffet for supper. She is looking forward to a nice no cooking at home meal with plenty of food.
Rigg’s and Sadie had a good day helping on the porch until they finally got chased for being in the way, As I type this Rigg’s is snoozing next to my chair in the kitchen, it’s hard on a guy to play and work all day so he needs his naps.
Not much else going on on this Sunday in Dardenne Prairie ,Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Be safe out there.. Sam & Donna….
