Sunday Notes.

Donna & I were up at 04:00AM and at 04:30AM we had coffee with Phyllis & Len, they only had time for one cup as the wanted to leave for the airport at 06:00AM so the would be there in time for security for their 07:30 AM flight, to Baltimore. They will drive from there to New Jersey.
Had several inquiries as to how Rigg’s and Sadie would get along with Lucky the cat. The original plan was to board him at a kennel,  but when Phyllis called they said they needed a copy of his rabies shots and when she got it out , she noticed that instead of the 3 year shot she thought he got he had only been given a one year shot so his tag is expired. No Kennel will board him. So Donna and I said if he can stay in the trailer we will go down several times a day and check on him and take him out for some exercise on his leash. Of course his litter box will have to be cleaned daily so the RV doesn’t smell bad.
As far as visiting with Rigg’s and Sadie we decided since neither of them have ever had any contact with a cat it might not be a good idea. The only cat Rigg’s has ever seen is a feral cat about 30 or 40 lbs that lives in our wood pile in the back yard, It must be a proficient hunter because it is fat and well fed looking I know it’s made a home there for two years because that’s how long I have seen him on the property.  It is black with white boots, but is steers a wide birth of humans and Rigg’s when he is on his run. I’ve seen Rigg’s give it chase until he runs out of lead, but he never got close and the cat was heading south.
Today was a copy of yesterday Cold, and rain, I felt sorry for Adam this morning, Nicole wasn’t here and his buddy Brandon that lives behind us was gone for the day, He played xbox for awhile, but Adam prefers playing outside to sitting in front of the TV. About noon his Mom called and said one of her friends was there and brought her son over, So I took him home so he could play with his friend there.

Saturday Morning breakfast, Sam, Donna, Phyllis & Len…

After we finished eating we sat around and gabbed for awhile and then Len & Phyllis went to the fiver to do some stuff, since they are flying out at 07:00am in the morning. If it stops raining we are planning on some sightseeing down in Old town St Charles, and then tonight Dinner out, Donna is off again at the restaurant.

This afternoon we took a drive and stopped at the Model railroad Club so Len & Phyllis could see it, Adam of course ran a train for us to watch as it sped through the towns and farmlands.

We then drove down to Old Town St Charles which is a restored shopping area along the Missouri Riverfront. It was pouring rain so we stayed in the truck and mad it a car tour.

Tonight we will be going out to dinner and then Len & Phyllis will have to hit the hay early as coffee is scheduled for 04:30AM and then they will be leaving for the airport to catch their plane to New Jersey at 05:00AM.

Donna and I will be taking care of their cat Lucky while they are gone.

TGIF, What Happened to Thursday

As most everyone knows, Thursday was a bad day for blogging, anything posted is gone and any comments forwarded are gone. So I am starting fresh on Friday.

Donna is doing better, she worked at the truck company Thursday and then came home and rested instead of going into the restaurant. I was glad she did that.

This morning at about 09:30AM Phyllis and Len arrived at the Weeb Ranch, Donna was a the truck company, so we had our hello’s and they got their fiver setup on the pad.

Went to Warrenton at 03:00PM and got Adam for the weekend, he took some wheel time on John Deere as soon as we got back back, I told he to ride it around the back area to get used to the way it steers. and how the brakes work, I’m pretty sure it will take a bit of scrubbing to wipe the smile off his face. Grandpa is sure proud of the way he handled it, He is becoming a young man instead of a little boy..

Since it’s Friday and Pizza night, I took a PA. shell from the freezer and we will be making a pizza for supper, I hope Len & Phyllis enjoy it.

In the interest of getting todays post out I will do like my buddy AL of THE BAYFIELD BUNCH and use a file photo of a previous finished pizza so I can post this while I am making the one for tonight's supper. See Al I’m learning to be a real photographer like you.

Wednesday Musings.

First of all Thank you all for your well wishes and support and prayers when Donna had her health incident yesterday, As soon as she got home I put her to bed and she stayed in bed including her supper which she ate there.

This morning she said she felt 100% better and would go into the truck company and just work slow at her desk, I called her a couple times to see how she was feeling and told her if she started to feel tired to come home early. So far she says the medicine is working and she feel better.

I know I am feeling guilty, like I am thinking of myself, when my wife is sick, and worrying about us missing out on hitting the road, the truth is I have been so looking forward to just the two of us and no jobs and no kids, just Rigg’s to worry about and no snow to shovel & plow, that I lose sight of the fact that those plans may have to change if Donna’s health won’t permit it. I am hoping it won’t but life has no guarantee's and I don’t know if I would want to go by myself without her if she was gone. Anyway just have to wait and see what cards are dealt our way.

We are anxiously awaiting Friday morning as we will be having blogger company, Phyllis & Len-THE EAST HEADS WEST, will be arriving, they are going to park their fiver here at the Ranch and then fly to New Jersey from St Louis Lambert Field to visit relatives for about a week and then come back and spend a few days bumming around the St Louis area and visiting here.

Oh and my follower counter last week went from 103 back to 102 and then yesterday I noticed it is at 104, I can’t find the name of the new arrival so send me a comment if you would as I think the counter is acting strange, this is the second time it went down and then up again.

I am really tired myself today so I will cut it short, it’s kind of been an emotional roller coaster for me the last couple of days, so maybe I will try to get some good rest tonight. Last night I tossed and turned worried about Donna. Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

Tuesday Notes. A Big Scare at the Weeb Ranch today.

We were up at 04:30AM and Donna was out the door at 05:30AM heading for the truck company. I went in the kitchen to do some blogging, and wait for Nicole to get up as I was going to drive her to school today. About 06:00AM My son came running into the kitchen and said you got to go to Lake St Louis Hospital something's happened to Mom and she said that’s where she is going. As I left the driveway I decided to try and get her on her cell phone, when she answered she said she couldn’t breath and had pain in her arm and was on the JJ’s Restaurant parking lot. I asked her if she had called 911 and she said no, so since I was a block away I rushed over there, and picked her up and drove her the 2 miles to St Joseph’s Hospital. She really looked bad when we got there, no color and gasping and tremors like when your going shocky. To be quite honest even an old cop veteran like me it scared the hell out of me just looking at her.

They took her into the E.R. and took a ton of blood and then it was off to x-ray, and than more tests, Then finally about 11AM the doctor came in and said they had pretty well ruled out a heart attack or heart episode, she has 5 stents from a couple years ago. But they were going to do one more  blood test to compare with the one they took when she first came in in the morning. When that came back okay, he said the breathing problem was part her CPOD and stress related and plus she had not had a good nights rest in three nights and was sleep deprived.

About noon she was allowed to go home with a prescription and orders to go to bed and get some rest.

I am still breathing hard, My worst fear is something will happen to prevent us from our dream of full timing, so you can see how that made me feel this morning.

Anyway I know it sounds selfish of me but I just wish there was someway to get her to slow down a little.

Hopefully a couple days of good rest and she will be back to normal. I will probably need a couple of High Life Lights to return to normal.

Hope everyone has a better day. Be safe out there..

Sam & Donna.

Monday Meanderings.

We were up early, got Donna off to the truck company and Nicole off to school, did some blogging this morning and then decided to just watch and see what the weather would do, it was sunny and 70 degrees at 07:00AM, but about 09:00AM it really darkened up and the wind picked up, so I went out on the screen porch and closed all the windows since it looked like rain was coming for sure, it stayed cloudy until about 03:30PM and then the sun came back out and it is now in the 80’s and sunny. Glad I got the grass mowed yesterday.

About noon I made a quick run to Shop & Save for some of life’s essentials, Bread, pizza and beer ( you know the major food groups). also some of those little white donuts for Nicole, which she loves.

Got home and my son Andy is putting the tires on his Camaro race car and getting ready to take it out side and wash it. He parks it all winter on jack stands and wraps the tires and wheels up so they don’t get wet and deteriorate over the winter. He will then park it outside and cover it with his car cover, Mom will have her stall back in the garage and Dad will be happy too. He is sounding like he wants to sell it and get a more street ready car that is still fast. This one has racing slicks and is 1000hp with Nitrous Oxide, and is an all out go fast race machine, it just isn’t practical to drive it on the street and unless it’s at a car show when you fire it up It will get the attention of anyone with a badge in a 5 mile circle. I have personally witnessed wheel stands in my driveway like at the drag strip.

Yeah I know he takes after his Dad, except now gas fumes have been replaced by diesel exhaust.

Not much else going on here at the Ranch, glad the day turned out pretty. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna…

Sunday Notes.

Happy Mother’s

Day…..

I would like to take this first minute and wish all the Mom’s out there, A truly great and Blessed Mother’s Day. No recognition could ever describe the duties of raising a child and being a Mother. I remember when I was a young man and home from service , about 23 years old I went to visit my Dad and he took me to the VFW for a beer. One of his buddies said to him, “you raised a fine young man there”. My Dad said “you can thank Ange, my wife for that, she had them pretty well whipped into shape by the time I got home from work.”Mom’s were the true motivators of most families.

I want to introduce both Mine and Donna’s Moms, Both passed away within two weeks of each other in 1990.

Although they lived 900 miles apart they both made several visits and were like best friends. people would say they could pass for sisters. What do you think.

For all of you who are fortunate to still have their Mom’s alive & well, Cherish every moment.

Donna & I were fortunate that the mom’s in our lives were just great & loving people, she used to say after we were married that her Mom liked me more than she did her own daughter, I guess cause she gave me neat birthday presents and never said no If I invited her to have a beer with me, no matter where we were or what time it was, Mom was up for a cold one.My Mom on the other hand hand to give up beer as a young girl when she had a stroke, and started with severe diabetes. She would always watch me pour one and say gosh I  miss those.

I went out and started mowing again rather than waste a nice sunny 80 degree day. I’ll be darned if Donna didn’t grab her Mother’s day present( the electric chain saw) and went out and trimmed some branches while I was cutting. She said it works really fine and is not heavy at all.

That’s about it for now, be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
