Thursday Thoughts.

It’s a rainy cloudy day at the Ranch today, But we haven’t had many of them lately. The big news of the day is from my Son Tim from New Jersey is in Colorado, he is hunting out there, and yesterday he got his big bull elk. Did I mention he got this with a bow and arrow. Way to go Son.

                               Tim and his Elk.

Hope he had lots of help dragging it out and loading it into the truck. Looks like there will be plenty of steaks this winter at his place.

Don’t know where he is in Colorado but we can only hope it’s far from the flooding.

Donna is working tonight, so she is napping this afternoon before she goes into the restaurant.

Rigg’s is laying on the floor next to his Daddy out like a light. He knows he’s safe and Dad has the homeland security watch.

If I go in the guest room for a movie he will follow me in and crash on the bed next to me. Never have to worry I have a 4 legged furry shadow wherever I go.

That’s about it for today, Hope al s well with our friends out there. Be safe, Sam & Donna…….

Tuesday Thoughts.

Each year on the 10th and 11th of September I try to take a few minutes to remember that awful morning on 9-11-01 when New York City became a Target along with Washington DC.for terrorist attacks, IN New York civilian deaths were 2606, NYFD 343, NYPD 23. PAPD 37. Including the plane that hit the Pentagon where 80 service people were killed and the plane that crashed in Shanksville PA. The total deaths were near 3400. W must always remember this day and pray we can prevent a reoccurrence of it.

My sons office was across the street from the east tower, we had to wait over 24 hours to get the good news he was in New Jersey with a client, when his office was damaged, it would be a year before it could be reoccupied. Over 3000 children lost at least one parent in this act. A sobering thought, Many of the responders have died of cancer thought to be linked to the overwhelming debris dust.
Lets just take a minute for a prayer for all the victims and survivors, whose lives were changed forever. And God Bless this great country of ours.
All is well here at the ranch, Donna got called and asked to work tonight at the restaurant, she is feeling better so she said sure, Rigg’s and I are going to ask if she wants to go to the doggie park in the morning, it’s been really hot and Rigg’s needs a good swim.
Andy’s girlfriend Samantha started the night watch (11PM-7AM) yesterday, I told here for all my police career except the last 5 years,  I worked rotating shifts and the night watch wasn’t bad after you got used to sleeping during the day, usually it didn’t take long.
Hoping all is well with all our friends out there, please be safe. Sam & Donna……

Monday Meanderings.

We’re back to another gorgeous sunny day but the temps will reach 97 this afternoon, just a little warmer than it’s been. I guess most of the midwest and prairie states are experiencing warmer than usual weather. Okay by me at the end of the month we will be going to Branson for a few days, and when we get back Judy & Emma will be stopping for a few days visit. Rigg’s always looks forward to having a blogger doggie friend visit, so far we have been lucky and he has gotten along with all of them.

He came in the Grands room where I was watching a train movie and hopped up and laid next to me today, Sadie has been doing the same thing and most days I have both of them with me all day. I hope they enjoy the train movies.

Donna has a Doctors appointment this afternoon and since she will be over in North St Louis County she is meeting one of her old co-workers for dinner and a gab fest.

With the hot sun nothing will get done outside today. But I am catching up on the computer.

Not much else top report, all is well at the Weeb Ranch, hope all the rest of you have a good day. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna………

Thursday Happenings.

Boy it seems like this week is flying by, At 09:00AM , Donna & I took our boy Rigg’s to the Vet for his annual checkup, plus he has a real small lump on his upper right leg. He got a complete physical, and the Vet said he is doing fine, only to get him more exercise to help control his weight, he was 105 lbs,  about the same as last year even with smaller food intake. They then did a biopsy on the lump and it was all fatty substance nothing else. so the Vet said wait and see if it grows and if so we will have to have it removed. Nothing to worry about at this point, this is his second tumor, as we had one in his stomach area cut out 2 years ago. Besides that he is in good overall health and still full of steam and vigor. He is pretty good at the Vet and likes her, not like the one shepherd I had that had to be carried in kicking and screaming.
It is another gorgeous sunny and mild day here at the Ranch, I could live with weather like this year round, it is 87 ,but not real humid.Good swimming weather.
Donna is working the restaurant tonight and Rigg’s and I will be in charge of Homeland Security. along with little sis Sadie.
My Son Sam Jr. who’s office is right next to the WTC site in New York City. Sent a picture from his office window of the new WTC reflected in another building.

Tuesday Thoughts.

Its another sunny gorgeous day, with a high only to be 85. It 65 this morning when we got up. A couple days ago I put a post in about Rigg’s getting a bath. After he read it he wanted to slpain what happened so here he goes.

Hi everybody, it's Riggs.

Now here's what happened. My Mom decided I needed a bath. So outside we went. As you

can see I wasn't real happy about this, but I was good and stood there. Dad came

out to take pictures. It was hot out there and I thought I was clean enough, so

when Dad opened the door I thought "well guess I can go in too". Wrong. As you

can see Mom was standing on the cable, when I bolted it wrapped around her legs

and she went flying. Now is it my fault I only weigh a little less than her and

am so much more powerful. And is it my fault that I was soaking wet and got

water all over the kitchen...it needed to be mopped anyway. Now Mom I am sorry

you got hurt, I promise I'll be better tomorrow.

Rigg'sbath08-28-13cRigg'sbath08-28-13d

Now you weren't paying these guys by the hour to clean the chimney, so what

was wrong with me supervising their work? I just wanted to make sure they

were doing a good job.

Rigg's08-28-13aRiggh's&Nicky06-26-13a

Now really, I was just giving Nikki some lovin', she wasn't trying to hold

me back from Dad's pizza. After all, it wasn't even baked yet!

Spencer,Donna,Sam,{Patrick&Geae07-24-13a

This is my Dad, my cousin Pat and his family. Now this wasn't my fault at all. Here's

what happened. Pat was going outside, of course I went to the door, he opened it,

I waited for him to put the chain on but he didn't, but then he told me to go out.

Now you see the size of him, would you argue with him? (Hey Paul and Helen notice Mom's

shirt). Anyway out I went....I'M FREE HAHA. Mom calls me I think, Pat calls me I

think, Dad comes out with my leash but why would I want that on, I'M FREE. Well, I've

never seen the neighbors houses or yards, so much to see and smell. Mom's after me, but

with her pneumonia she can't run very fast and I can. About 8 acres away there is a

house with lots of cars and trucks in the drive and lots of bushes out front to smell.

As I'm smelling Mom goes over to one of the trucks and goes to the door and says

"Riggs let's go for a ride" but that didn't look like my truck, well after about

the third time I decided maybe it was new so I wanted to go for a ride. Can you

believe it Mom tricked me! She snapped on a leash and started dragging me home.

Don't know why she kept saying she was happy the people that lived there didn't come

out and see a strange lady trying to get a dog in their truck, my Mom's not strange.

I didn't get any treats that day, now is that fair?

Woodchuck06-24-13gSadie07-08-13c

Talk about strange what about this critter, he is living under our patio and I want

him gone,so I bark at him and try to scare him off. See the difference in size

between him and my sister Sadie...well I don’t want him to hurt her.

Yawn, well folks I'm tired now...but honestly I'll try to be better tomorrow.

Rigg’s has more good days than bad, I was just hoping after almost 5 years he wouldn’t still be a wild child but he is still a pup at heart. But with a heart of gold.

Not much doing, Mom is making a pork roast for supper, that should have the house smelling nice, she baked chocolate chip cookies this morning, but they are off limits to me. Do you know how hard it is to watch everyone eating fresh soft cookies, and you can’t have any. In fairness she did offer to make sugarless ones for me but I told her it was to much work for one batch of cookies.

That’s about it for today, hope everyone had a great Labor Dad weekend. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna………

Monday Meanderings.

We had a quiet Labor Day weekend here at the Ranch, It started Friday with Adam who was supposed to be staying the long weekend, putting on Facebook that he wanted to change his name from Weibel to his Mothers name, Shaw. He never has said anything around here and of course his Dad and Grandpa were greatly disappointed, needless to say he called his Mom and she came and picked him up. She got him a Facebook account with the name Adam Shaw,so I guess this was to be expected, Ah the life of a divided family.

I told Donna I am not letting this bother me he has to be older and have this done in court if it is what he truly wants. Personally I think it is his Mom’s idea to get back at his Dad for whatever, she thinks is the latest affront.

So we just lazied around the house and then last night, ( Sunday) Donna and I went to the Past House for dinner. Their prices have gone sky high so we will probably cross them off our favorites list.

Donna met her best friend Rene this morning and they had a girls day out including lunch, she says they had a really good time.

Not much else doing, I wish we could just take a couple days off and camp, but Donna is still having breathing issues and is using her machine once a day, I suppose I could take it with us so I will suggest that next.

Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna…….
