Friday at Alum Creek State Park, Ohio.

Yesterday,we left Little Farm IN. about noon and arrived At  Alum Creek State Park in Delaware Ohio. about 03:00PM, After setting up we explored the park a little, The way it is set up, all the sites have plenty of room in between them they are level and paved and have a big grass area and picnic table and fire pit, the rest rooms and showers houses are really clean there is 50 amp electric at all sites but no water, or sewer. All in all it is really a beautiful park.  Adam went for a bike ride and met some new friend’s, had a pretty heavy rain shower about 05:00PM.and then made an easy supper, hot dogs and baked beans.

About 06:00PM our niece Geae came over with Dunkin the dog, Rigg’s had his playmate back for the evening, we just sat and had a cocktail, and talked until it was time for Geae to leave, they only live about 10 minutes away so after the doggie park and swim time today we will be going over to their house.

Although they advertise wi-fi there is no signal at our site, Sam asked the Ranger about it and he said you can get a strong signal up at the Ranger station and said to come up and in the mornings they have coffee on. really nice fellow.

The lake is about 50 yards behind our site but cannot be seen due to heavy growth.

So far this has really been a good week, we all sleep well after long days of fun. As I type this at  07:00am Adam is still out and Rigg’s is curled up at my feet dreaming doggie dreams with his feet becoming animated as he romps in his dreams. What a life.

Life is good, be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Thursday Thoughts

We were up at 05:00am and we are having coffee and planning for our departure, to drive to Delaware Ohio to the Alum Creek State Park, it shows a little better that a 3 hour drive from here in Indiana. The highlight of our day yesterday was the trip to the Newport Aquarium in Newport Kentucky, right across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, this should go on anyone’s list of a must see.

We stopped at the Golden Buffet, where we had a great dinner, then on to the campground where Adam quick went to join his friends at the pool, then an hour of bike riding before Grandma picked up the walkie talkie about ten minutes before quiet time,(10pm) and said, “Unit one to the Adam unit, time to come in.” I had all I could do to contain myself listening to the Chief call the young officer in.

Vacation Wednesday.

Yesterday ( Tuesday) we got up at about 06:00am, by 07:30am Adam headed out for his first bike ride, he came back for breakfast and headed back out, We watched our neighbors Bev& Paul hitch up to their 5th wheel, they had a Cougar, that was painted exactly like our Coachman, the inside was furnished similarly and the floor plan was the same, except for the decals and some minor window differences you would have  thought they were the same trailer. After handshakes and hugs and of course the dog’s said goodbye with licks and kisses, they left with promise’s to keep in touch, About 11:00am Adam was back and saying Grandma all the guys are going swimming, can I go, so he changed and Grandma went up to make sure there were other adults there. Sam was waiting for a ladder to put a piece of sealer tape (eternabond) on a caulk seam that had come loose. Donna came back satisfied that another Grandpa had assumed the duties of Officer in Charge.

Some serious laptop concentration while Rigg’s wait’s to see if Adam is going to drop anything.
We had decided to visit Donna’s brother Pat again in the afternoon, he had an early Doctor’s appointment so we told him we would be back over around 03:00PM.
Adams was still swimming at 02:00PM so Donna went up to get him at the pool. We all jumped in the truck and allowed Rigg’s to stay alone for the first time in the trailer, first Sam put the night shades down so he couldn’t see out side, and then we doggie proofed the trailer so there wasn’t anything he could reach and steal, Donna then put the TV on so he would think we were home.
It’s just about an hour to Pat’s house and of course after a couple of hours of hard swimming Adam fell asleep as soon as the truck was rolling at highway speeds.
We had planned on a couple of relaxing hours of conversation, and then going out to dinner, Pat had good news from his Doctor, but was also told his procedure had been the most difficult of it’s kind the Doctor had ever performed and that he would be sore for several more weeks, but the overall prognosis is excellent.

About 05:00PM we headed over to the Olive Garden Restaurant, just a short drive from Pat’s house, we had a wonderful Dinner spending a long time just relaxing. Thanks' Pat & Kathy for a wonderful meal..

All good things come to an end and Pat was tiring so we left for the campground around 8:00PM. We stopped at an IGA store on the way back in Aurora IN. to pick up a couple of grocery items. and then got back home. Rigg’s was glad to see us and we were happy to see he  had been a good boy and not gotten into anything. We had a pretty good storm when we got home, Rigg’s didn’t seem to notice it though and proceeded to occupy his night with chewing up his new duckey that he got before we left. We regret to inform you that Ducky succumbed to his injuries later in the evening, with no head no legs, no stuffing, and no squeaker, he is just a shell of his old self.

Tuesday at Little Farms RV Resort.

Got up this morning to a bit of rain, had a pretty good storm overnight, had our coffee, and then Adam got up about 07:30am. He had some milk and then at 08:00am he headed out the door with his walkie talkie to bike ride with his friend’s, it has stopped raining and the forecast is for the sun to break through and get into the 90’s again today, so far the plan is to go to an aquarium this afternoon later and then over to Donna’s brother’s house and then out to dinner with them.

Last night we had a cocktail hour with our next door neighbors Paul & Bev from Ohio. They have a 5th wheel similar to ours, and a small yellow lab/mixed female Molly, Rigg’s had a ball playing and romping with Molly. While we were talking a neat golf cart with a body like a 52 Chev Pickup pulled up and Paul introduced Rich, the owner of the Park. he sat and talked with us and we had a really nice visit, Adam&Rigg's07-19-10b.jpg

Grandma & Adam share some time on the computer.

Adam made a final bike ride with his buddies in the evening and about 09:45PM, 15 minutes before quiet time Grandma called him on the radio and said head for the barn. and he came right back, he had a drink and we made his bed and he put his DVD on and that was it for him, he was down for the count in about 10 minutes. Grandpa followed him soon after. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Monday Musings

After a good nights sleep we were up at 05:30am Sam had the coffee ready, Yesterday, about 11:00am we headed to Donna’s brother Pat’s house, he lives about 1 hr drive north of the campground, in Hamilton County OH. just north of Cincinnati OH. Pat is recovering from having a reconstructive surgery if his sternum, and since he is a big man it is going slow, Pat had said to bring Rigg’s since his son Patrick Jr. was there with there dog Duncan and that would give Rigg’s a playmate. It was great to see family since we hadn’t had a visit in St Louis in a couple years and we hadn’t been down to see them in several years. Spent the whole day just sitting and catching up on the news, and watching the dog’s interact. We were really proud of Rigg’s he was on his best behavior and was not a problem in anyway, very social and loving with his new friend Duncan. Duncan is a large poodle mix and is almost as heavy as Rigg’s since he was the older dog ( he’s 3)  Rigg’s differed to his lead.

After an afternoon of socializing we had a great steak dinner prepared by Patrick Jr. and his Mom Kathy, it was great, even Adam cleaned his plate to join Grandpa, Uncle & Cousin Patricks and Nephew Justin in the clean plate club, Sam of course took some pictures of family.

It was so nice to spend the day in Pat& Kathy’s lovely home, and to see Patrick Jr. & Geae we will be going up to Delaware Ohio to stay a few days near their home on Thursday so we will see them again soon. We stayed till about 08:00pm and then drove back to the campground, Adam who had been talking about going swimming when we got back till 10:00PM was so played out that he crashed in the truck on the way back, and had to be helped into his bed in the trailer where he is still asleep at 07:00am.

Today we plan on spending most of the day at the campground or local sightseeing, Adam will have bike riding and swimming friends here and after all this is his vacation too. Grandpa will probably go up an hit the pool with him later too. Have to make up for missing the cocktail hour last night, I didn’t imbibe, since I was driving back from Pat;’s last night and it was about 10:00PM before I decided to have a cold High Life before bed, we talked to our neighbor’s next door who have a smaller yellow Lab mixed female, so Rigg’s made another friend and then we went in to join Adam in dreamland. We noticed when we got back that there were a lot of empty spaces from the weekend crowd leaving but there are plenty of kid’s left to entertain Adam. That’s about it for now, be safe out there. Sam & Donna…
