Sunday Notes.

Boy am I glad the rain that had been falling all day is rain and not snow, It has not let up for 8 hours, Thankfully it got up to 50 degree’s which is unbelievable for PA at this time of the year, tomorrow they are saying a high of 34 degree’s and cloudy, and then Tuesday another cloudy and cold day. I am sure hoping that will mean clear highways for most of the way home haven’t decided to take I-80 across or go down 81 to the Turnpike and take the southern route west that hits I-70 in New Stanton PA, sometimes that 100 miles means the difference between snow and no snow. It would also mean about $40 dollars in tolls but I will try to check PennDot’s highway condition’s and see, still have two days to decide.

Boy it looks like everything north of MO Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakota’s all got hammered pretty good, Dardenne Prairie MO weather showed only an inch so that might be gone when I get back.

My friend Bob,  NOW WHAT ARE THEY DOING up in Minnesota made two post’s today to show us the aftermath of the blizzard at his place and the heavy equipment needed to get his drive open.

Karen, RV'ING SMALL HOUSE BIG BACKWARD also posted pictures of what the eastern Wisconsin area looked like. Take a look, wow.

Look’s like insulated coverall’s, carharts, fur caps, facemask’s, & snow mobile boot’s  all around.

Like I said if I  can be lucky and get home to MO on Thursday without hitting snow I will be lucky, all my cold weather gear above and John Deere are waiting for that to come there.

You guys like Rick, RICK & PAULETTE"S RV TRAVELS up in that tropical British Columbia paradise paradise can be glad you don’t get those kind’s of storms.

And all of you lucky guys in Arizona, South Texas and Florida, might get a little cold once in awhile but you don’t have to worry about 20 inches of snow.

But for those of you who don’t know I will be driving a Chevy 2500HD Duramax 4X4 with plenty of clothes, and an extended cab long bed that has proven to be a good snow vehicle as long as you use common sense and keep the speed down. I keep the 5th wheel hitch and tools and jacks in the back so there is a couple of hundred lbs of added weight in the box to help with traction. The back has a fold a cover (hard) to keep the weather out. From my Chief days I left a pair of amber strobes in the back window so I am covered for most roadside emergencies.

Hey Adam, Rigg’s Sadie & Donna hear that, I will be heading your way in just two days.

For the rest of you, be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  1. Hey, becareful on those roads. We'll be thinking of you.

It's going to get cold for a couple days here in Florida, but sure glad I'm out of the midwest and even NC has had snow. It's good having wheels under our home.

  2. Sam, I'm catching up on my blog reading, and saw your grandson's photo in the hospital - how scary for everyone! My thoughts are with you and I'll send up some prayers for him. He's such a cutie!

You'll be home before you know it, and will see him and Donna and everyone else. Take care - drive safely! :)

  5. Hope you get good weather for your trip home. It is kind of 'balmy' up here on Vancouver Island - it was a nice 56F today.

  8. Keep your camera with you on your trip just in case something interesting does fall out of the sky! Do you have a sleeping bag too in case you get stuck for a while? You know, something to keep you really warm. Oh, and are you taking some food with you and water? Be safe!

  14. We hope the weather holds out for you Sam for your drive back home. You must be so excited to getting back home to see everyone.

I saw Karen's pictures this morning of the snow storm and it gave me shivers just thinking about it. I don't think we will complain about waking up cold and putting the furnance on for 10 or 15 minutes to warm up the place after seeing those pictures. A least we have sun and beatiful weather the rest of the day.

Take it easy driving back home.
