Tuesday Notes. A Big Scare at the Weeb Ranch today.

We were up at 04:30AM and Donna was out the door at 05:30AM heading for the truck company. I went in the kitchen to do some blogging, and wait for Nicole to get up as I was going to drive her to school today. About 06:00AM My son came running into the kitchen and said you got to go to Lake St Louis Hospital something's happened to Mom and she said that’s where she is going. As I left the driveway I decided to try and get her on her cell phone, when she answered she said she couldn’t breath and had pain in her arm and was on the JJ’s Restaurant parking lot. I asked her if she had called 911 and she said no, so since I was a block away I rushed over there, and picked her up and drove her the 2 miles to St Joseph’s Hospital. She really looked bad when we got there, no color and gasping and tremors like when your going shocky. To be quite honest even an old cop veteran like me it scared the hell out of me just looking at her.

They took her into the E.R. and took a ton of blood and then it was off to x-ray, and than more tests, Then finally about 11AM the doctor came in and said they had pretty well ruled out a heart attack or heart episode, she has 5 stents from a couple years ago. But they were going to do one more  blood test to compare with the one they took when she first came in in the morning. When that came back okay, he said the breathing problem was part her CPOD and stress related and plus she had not had a good nights rest in three nights and was sleep deprived.

About noon she was allowed to go home with a prescription and orders to go to bed and get some rest.

I am still breathing hard, My worst fear is something will happen to prevent us from our dream of full timing, so you can see how that made me feel this morning.

Anyway I know it sounds selfish of me but I just wish there was someway to get her to slow down a little.

Hopefully a couple days of good rest and she will be back to normal. I will probably need a couple of High Life Lights to return to normal.

Hope everyone has a better day. Be safe out there..

Sam & Donna.

  1. So soo scary! glad Donna is home and OK with no heart attack. My friend Bel has COPD AND heart attacks, so I know how terrifying it can be. You are NOT selfish to want Donna to slow down, it's for her as well, of course. Best wishes to both of you!

  6. Sam, prayers going out from here for Donna. Hopefully you will be able to keep your bride home for a few days to rest. You take it easy too; these situations can take a lot out of a person. All the best Sam to you and Donna!

  7. Oh Donna - please please slow down. I sure hope this is a major wake-up call for her!! Women from a strong family always put them selves last it's time to put herself in the number 1 spot. Give her hug for us... And now you relax too!! Scary stuff...

    How long will it last?

And has your heart rate returned to normal? Totally scary morning but so glad you were there for her.

  9. Really glad she had the good sense to know she needed medical intervention. So often women (men too) will disregard symptoms as nothing when it is really something. Now - you take the lead and tell her to SLOW DOWN - you have things you want to do and you need her there next to you.

  12. Oh Sam, that is so scary. Glad you were so close when it happened and got her some help really quickly. I sure hope she slows down and takes care of herself.

You are not selfish in wanting Donna to be well and enjoy retirement with you. It is a concern we all have. I often wonder if we have waited too long, as our health declines. Best wishes to you...please keep us informed.

  14. Happy to hear things turned out alright in the end but hope Donna takes that as a 'wake up call'. We all know people who in their later years pushed too hard & are no longer with us. The time to slow things down is.....NOW!!

  19. Now it is your job Sam to help Donna transition to a slower pace. It is easier said than done, as I am sure you know.
Tell your young lady to SLOW down.
Have a Miller High Life for me as well...heck, make it two Sam!

  20. Definitely too scary! Glad it was nothing serious! Hubster had a stent and retirement called his name!

Maybe Donna needs to rest and listen for her name? Sure hope you two are able to have your dream...
